Selected User Reviews For Model Painting Alligator Clip Sticks 20PCS with Stand Base 1PCS for Airbrush Hobby Model Parts
So, I'm going to address some of the issues I noticed when I was reviewing this before purchasing it. br>For starters, the alligator clips are very easy to break off the posts. I'm confident in my ability to reattach them with a pair of pliers and some super glue. They have a good positive grip and open fairly wide. br>Two, the metal post is solid, which means it can be bent and is extremely durable. Use pliers and your monkey mind to solve the problem. br>Three, the base is pierced by two holes of varying sizes. This is typical of this type of display. One is for smaller diameter and fits perfectly on the included metal posts, while the other is for larger diameter. br>Fourth, the base weight may be too light for some users; it works fine for my Miniatures and Gundam, but it can be awkward with larger-scale models. kits of various scales I'll glue it to a larger base, but it's already a problem.
My g903 gaming mouse was painted with this kit. It's great because the rubber tips on the alligator clips can be easily removed if you need to hold on to something very small. The clips are exceptionally strong. I had no trouble spray painting. I had a lot of parts to paint, and this kit came with plenty of clips. Because the smaller holes on the stand are quite tight, make sure to brace it with one hand while pulling the clip out, or you risk damaging one of the pieces.
All of the holes are functional. Half of the holes are small and the other half are large. None of them are too tight, as other reviewers have stated, and they easily slip in and out. In addition, the clips are enjoyable. The metal rods can also be bent, which is an excellent feature. They are 2mm solid metal rods, which I assumed were stiff fiberglass or something similar. It's far superior to my expectations.
Not in the least bit pleased. The clips do not open wide enough due to the rubber on them. Jaws deviate from their normal position. The metal sticks have a coat hanger-like stiffness to them. This item is not suitable for flexing. In addition, it is too tall to fit inside a standard airbrush booth. More weight should be added to the stand. There are two different sizes of holes available. Neither of which has a strong grip on the sticks.
I'm sorry for not inquiring about the material's properties, but I expected the poles to be made of a flexible material that could bend enough to hold things horizontally or at an angle. When I found out they aren't flexible, I assumed the user would bend the poles into whatever configuration they needed, which is why it comes with so many, so you can try out different orientations. But, because the clamps are only crimped to the last 4mm of the pole, I broke two of them within a minute of trying this. br>br>Ultimately, it was a cheap mistake on my part not to do the research, but based on questions about similar products, it appears to be a common misunderstanding.
The main problem is that the thin sticks are difficult to fit into the holes on the base. They're difficult to get rid of, and you're probably doing it right now. while airbrushing with one hand The sticks lean into other newly painted parts because the alternate base holes are too large. The rubber cups on the alligator clips are a nice addition, but I removed them all because they don't grip as well. This is an improvement over gluing parts to toothpicks, but it is still a flawed system.
Half of the holes are barely big enough for the stick to fit through, and it takes a lot of force to get it in. The other half function normally, though some of them were difficult to remove after inserting the stick. It's strange that half of them work well, while the other half are such a pain to use that they defeat the purpose of using them if they damage the paint or the item being painted.
Don't do it. Keep looking if you need something to keep your projects stable while you work on them. If you want something that spins them around like a disco ball while you struggle and curse, then go for it. This product is a waste of money. br>I only had it for 5 minutes, and I'm pretty sure it'll end up in the trash once I salvage the clips and make something myself. br>It doesn't get any better than this.
