Questions & Answers

What is the function of this device?

It's used to sand down mold lines on miniatures, as well as the areas where the miniature is cut from the sprue. The sandpaper pad, on the other hand, will quickly fill up if there is a significant amount of plastic left over after cutting.

Is there a charging station for this, similar to what you'd find for an electric toothbrush?

I'm not aware of any. It has a contact point on the bottom, similar to an electric toothbrush, but when you open it up, you'll find that it's powered by standard disposable batteries. My guess is that it's a repurposed electric toothbrush, but there's no station to go with it.

Is it better to go orbital or vibrate?

It's almost like a side-to-side movement.

I'm having trouble opening the battery compartment, and the instructions are unclear. Is it necessary for me to apply pressure? Is it necessary for me to twist, and if so, what are some pointers?

The battery installation instructions are written in Japanese on the package. The following is a translation. If you could use it as a reference, that would be great.
> As shown in the photo (left), open the battery lid while pressing the black part on the main unit's bottom.
> Insert the battery into the main body as shown in the photo (right) after it has been installed in the lid. br>Do not replace the battery with wet hands at this time. There's a chance you'll get shocked by electricity. After each use, make sure to remove the battery.

We were so close to being great
3/5

This sander/polisher performs admirably and comes dangerously close to being a 5-star product. Unfortunately, the polisher/sanding head is about the size of a dime, which limits how useful it is for me (removing mold lines and flashing for miniatures). br>br>However, if you work on larger projects, this may not be an issue. It performs admirably, but it is unable to enter narrow or constrained areas.

I believe this is the most important model finishing tool I own! This is a must-have tool for anyone who works with models or finishes SLA prints
5/5

Buy a few extra heads so you don't have to keep changing sandpaper pads all the time, and the pads will last a long time. br>br>This thing is BY FAR the best tool for cleaning up SLA print support areas. I mix it with Flex-Aid when it's wet. The files are incredible, as are the results. br>br>I noticed someone on here complaining about how quickly the sandpaper loaded. People, use water. It's the same concept as wet sanding a car. On SLA and plastic models, the silicon carbide abrasive will last a long time and will produce much better results much faster with just a little water. br>br>Purchase the tool, get extra heads for each grit, and use some water. You'll find yourself using it all the time; it's a fantastic product.

It was very close to being a perfect five-star rating
3/5

It is excellent. Is it true? Almost perfect: low cost, simple to use, and includes three grit sandpaper sets. The sandpaper is held in place by magic and will not fall off. I used up all of the sandpaper and it never came loose. br>br>However, aside from the fact that the sandpaper wears out quickly (1 thingy in 30 minutes), it is ineffective in tight spaces. You'd like to tidy up some details? Invest in a file because the pad covers far too much for my needs. Although it's not ideal for tight angles, it does leave clean and even surfaces.

This is an excellent little device
5/5

I really like it. I just wish there were more "heads" and grits for the sanding wheels to go with it. None of these, however, are significant. This is my go-to tool for polishing and cleaning 3D prints.

It was exactly what I needed
5/5

I really like the way this product works. The battery tray popped open easily to put the batteries in, making it very simple to use. It had a simple on/off switch. Blending/sanding split lines, etc. on my models was made easier with the use of small sanding pads! Product of the highest quality!! A++++.

400 grit
5/5

Excellent value for money, but not suitable for minis! Vehicles, Gunpla, and so on without a doubt It's excellent for what it is! It'll be useful for cleaning 40K vehicles, Gundam kits, larger resin prints, and garage kits, among other things. It's not for 28-year-olds at all. 32mm miniatures, on the other hand. The sander (the head of a tooth brush) is simply too large. This is something I really like! However, replacement sanding disks are quite costly, to the point where you're almost better off just buying a new unit when the disks run out! They also only make 400 grit pads, as far as I know. I'm thinking of making some 220 grit with double sided foam tape as a backing!.

This is a fantastic hobby tool
5/5

I purchased this to aid in the cleanup of 3D resin prints, and it has performed admirably in that capacity. The pads have a small amount of foam padding on the back of the disk, which allows them to conform to round surfaces more easily. The only thing that may prove difficult in the future is locating a replacement sanding disc; they appear to be difficult to come by on the internet.

Although it is a little pricey, it is an excellent tool
5/5

Great product and a welcome addition to my modeling tool arsenal; for those who suffer from painful hands, this is the tool for you! I even used two-sided foam tape to make my own disks.
