First and foremost, this product does exactly what it claims to do. In fact, here's a little more: They sent 21 clips instead of 20 to protect them from damage during shipping. The issue, however, was in the foundation. Only about 5% of the total number of holes in the base were large-sized holes. enough to accommodate the clips' metal wire Furthermore, once inside the base, removing the wires was extremely difficult. Rather than returning it, I've ordered some 2mm drill bits, which I'll use to carefully enlarge the holes. This is something I don't think I should have to do. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> It needed a 2. To get the holes to a usable diameter, use a 1mm bit. The wires are still difficult to insert, but they wiggle too much if they are any larger.
A "burr" is left at the bottom of the metal rod due to the way it is cut. The rod will be unable to fit into the base as a result of this. I drilled the appropriate sized holes in my own base, which I made out of wood. It now functions properly, but the base is no longer useful for its original purpose. (I've also lost the use of two clips that came loose from the rod. ) Chinese junk at a low price - which Amazon appears to have a surplus of these days.
Using skewers is the way to go. This clip stand set is completely useless. I just used it for the first time, and the sticks don't fit properly in the holes, making it impossible to put them in or pull them out, rendering it useless. The clips are also easily removed from the sticks. Stick to skewers instead of wasting money on this.
For gunpla and other small modeling projects, this is a great tool. My only criticism is that each hole appears to require poking through. It's as if there's some leftover plastic in the holes that prevents the sticks from going all the way in. I have to stab in really hard to break the plastic, but once I do, it's in. Given that I had to put in a lot of effort just to use it, the price seems a little high. br>br>The clips, on the other hand, are tough, but adding rubber nibs doesn't help with really small pieces.
In the last thirty years, I haven't built a model kit. I'm overjoyed to see so many useful kit-building tools. If you need to paint several small parts at once, this is a must-have. It's ideal for painting micro sculptures with precision while avoiding getting paint on your fingers. The clamps are strong, and the base is sturdy. Plastic tips are included with the clamps to protect the model pieces while they are being held in the clamps. Perfect.
This product is highly recommended for the price and quantity of clamps and other items included.
If I had to name a flaw, it would be that the cover underneath wears out over time, but this isn't a bad thing because the device continues to function. If my models require it, I will definitely purchase a second one!.
The foundation is very low-cost. If you plan on moving this with parts on it, the bottom cover will fall off. The base does not keep the parts in place. Contact between painted parts is very likely if clips in holes move around too much. The metal clips are of excellent quality. Clips are attached to solid metal rods with rubber teeth covers that have been painted black.
