Our upcoming beach trip will require us to use this, and we have yet to do so. Nevertheless, we had one before and, as I recall, "variety" meant questions from any genre, even if they did not belong to another category. As I mentioned earlier, I cannot swear to it, but that's what I recall. There are more general questions related to categories.
The book can be enjoyed by those nine years and older. In the entertainment category we included all the entertainers, but the younger kids did not know all of them. Also, if the child does not know what an item is, you can skip it. This is a highly recommended product!

The family already owned a copy (ours is white and blue), so we wanted to give it to the member of the family who needs it. On Christmas, I got to play it with them. There are only a couple of issues I have with this version, and the only complaint I have is that the ticking noise is a little too loud. Once you try to play Catch Phrase this way, you will never want to go back to the paper version. You will see the score and the time while it also shows you the text, so it has all the functionality my camera usually last for a year or two with regular use, and we can hope that this will do the same. There is no way to turn on or off the game, it just shuts off by itself after a while if no buttons are pressed for a while. *For those who have never played the game, it's fast-paced and enjoyable.
