I'm a big guy (5'8" 340lbs) who wants to get back into inline skating for low-impact exercise and recreation. After reading some positive reviews, I decided to purchase these skates. The skates appear to be made of high-quality components that will last a long time; they fit true to size and were reasonably comfortable. I tried these on inside my kitchen to see how they felt. I quickly discovered that a soft boot with ankle support was not enough for me; I had a hard time keeping my ankle straight and was experiencing far too much lateral ankle roll, making it difficult to push off or even maneuver. I was able to get them as tight as possible. I've also noticed that the inline frame has been shifted closer to the arch side of my foot, which could be contributing to the ankle roll. Overall, a good skate, but not one I would recommend. I'm going to return these and replace them with a hard shell boot in the hopes that it will solve the problems I had with these. I hope this information aids someone else in avoiding the issues I encountered.
I placed an order for a size 8. It's a 5 for me, and I like it. I usually wear a size seven. I normally wear size 5 wide shoes, but since my last rollerblade, I've been wearing size 8 wide shoes. 5 (for some reason I don't recall) I ordered the same size and, thankfully, I was correct. It was a concern of mine that it would be too tight around my feet. My feet are quite at ease in these boots, and I can tell that my toes are almost touching the front of the shoes. I've been wearing it around my neighborhood for a few weeks now and it's still comfortable enough for me to write this review. I wish they could choose from a variety of colors instead of orange. The wheels aren't turning quite as smoothly as I had hoped; These are the factors that led me to give it four stars. However, I am satisfied with this product in general.
This is/was my very first pair of roller skates. Despite having everything adjusted and tight, I noticed a strong tendency for my left foot to cant outward right away. After further investigation, it was discovered that this is a common problem that can be resolved by adjusting the wheel frame in or out until your foot weight sits in a neutral (level) position above it when standing in the skate. Unfortunately, this crucial feature is absent from these skates, as well as many others in this price range and lower. I'm not sure why, because it's such a simple feature to include in the skate frame's design. Because I am handy with tools, I believe I can modify these to meet my needs, but it is inexcusable that all skates, regardless of price point, lack this feature. Someone shouldn't have to pay $300 for a wheel frame with slotted holes in it. It's the equivalent of selling a belt with only one buckle hole.
This item has been returned to Amazon. br>I've been skating on K2 Velocity 4s for over 16 years (changing two pairs, repairing each one, changing buckles, buttons, and so on). It's light and thin, gives me complete control, and is the best fit for skating on a rink for me. It was the most profitable purchase I'd ever made. br>While looking through the modern K2 product line, I came to a halt at the FIT80, which appeared to be very similar in appearance. However, I was completely frustrated when I received it. br>The padding is so thick that any control is out of the question. br>The purpose of the ridiculous "speed lacing system" is unclear; in order to save 30 seconds on lacing your skates, you must sacrifice everything about skating (which, of course, will not last long). br>The overall appearance of these skates is unattractive (this is not visible in the photo). They have the appearance of being labor intensive. In real life, dirt boots. br>It's a shame K2 made such a thing after Velocity, which was better and even cheaper, was on the market. The fact that they don't have anything else to offer is a double-edged sword. As a last resort, I'll look into the Kinetic 80, which sadly lacks an aluminum frame.
Exceptionally relaxing. I'm still breaking them in, as I ran 6 miles in them today.
These were true to size at US size 9 (EU 42) and I have fairly wide feet (4E). Even with nice cushioned sports socks on, they fit like a glove. br>br>I couldn't be more excited to get back into skating after a 20-year hiatus!.
Good value for money.
My skates arrived today and I love them. I ordered an eight size and it fits perfectly. This is a great company. They said they wouldn't arrive until July 30th, but they arrived early.
