There isn't a lot of padding, and it's quite thin. Figure skaters who are working on jumps, particularly doubles, should avoid this. Padding should be improved.

Outside, these shorts have a very high-end feel to them. quality, more akin to a thick swimsuit for a girl. The waistband appears to be a really high quality thick 2" elastic inside. Seems like a really good value for the $$. Pads are a dense foam (which is what I was hoping for and couldn't tell from previous reviews).

I bought a size S and it's perfect for my 6 foot tall frame. 5 year old girl of average size (47 lbs). It isn't overly large, but it provides adequate protection. The curved design that protects the tailbone is particularly appealing to me. The padding is approximately 1/2" thick. If you have a bigger kid, size up because the fabric appears to be of good quality and has some give. I believe it will blend in nicely with jogger-style pants while remaining unobtrusive. I haven't washed it yet, so I can't say for sure how long it will last, but it appears to be sturdy. To protect it, I'm going to wash it in a laundry bag and hang dry it. I hope you found this information to be useful.

These are incredible! They're perfect for protecting my five-and-a-half-year-old's hips and tailbone when she goes figure skating. She claims it doesn't hurt when she falls, and as she's progressed with spinning and eventually jumping, I'm starting to believe she has some sort of protection out there.

Certainly not foolproof, the shorts help protect the girls' hips and tailbone, according to the girls. They're simple to put on, fit over tights, and are snug enough that they don't show through under sweaters or skirts. If you're trying to order from the size chart, they'll run about 1/2 to 3/4 inch small, but they're substantial, wash well, and are well-made.

These are ideal for preventing your child's body from being damaged by hard falls. br>This is our second purchase, and we're just as pleased with the new ones as we were with the first. br>br>We also bought a new pair of shoes from Amazon. They weren't as well-made as these, and the pads didn't fit properly to cover the tailbone like these do. They aren't overly bulky. br>br> It was a perfect match. They run a little big. br>br>They're a little big. However, because the difference is so minor, it is unlikely to make a significant difference.

Fits as expected, or is bulky but not to the point of being uncomfortably so. You'll be able to see that you're wearing it, but the protection from a fall is worth the stares. I haven't fallen flat on my face since receiving it, and I don't expect to, but I am much more confident in it now.
