It picks up speed quickly, but he can control the speed by switching between the throttle and the accelerator. Most people can ride this bike comfortably if they are between the ages of 4 and 8. A game like this would probably be more suitable to kids around 6-12 years old, but any older would probably be too small and boring. I have not encountered any problems with the battery so far. The battery life is a little short but it is quick enough for the young kid to keep him interested. There is no suspension on this bike so the I like it best on hard packed dirt roads or driveways, but it's a little rough over bumps.
