We already have the counting cows set from this brand and my son's experience has been that you can wash them by hand, but not soak them in water for a long time because the water gets in through the little connecting pin and it is really hard to get it out completely.
If you want to play with them in the tub, then you can. Plastic toys that are sturdy and good quality. Having them in the house is my grandson's favorite thing.

I bought these for my 2 year old and he loves them. FYI, the pattern matching is trumped by the fact that they are all different colors. I would call it more of a color match. My best guess is that he hasn't even noticed the patterns on the back of the dinosaurs. This is a Christmas gift I got for my one and a half year old. I am happy with my purchase. An interesting set that he can pull apart and piece back together himself.
