Melissa and Doug children's toys are usually one of my favorites. They are typically well-made and suitable for children. The exception is these pick-up sticks! I gave them back to you. br>br>These sticks were a tad too big, as well as far too smooth and glossy. When they were dropped to play, they rolled off each other, leaving only a single layer of sticks on the ground. br>br>If you find this useful, please let me know by clicking the link below: ) thanks!.
The sticks are so sturdy and heavy that they don't get tangled up like they did in the old game. Because the sticks mostly roll out in a single layer, the old game loses its challenge.
The quality of work is outstanding. But the ends aren't pointed enough; I'm sure they did it that way so no one gets hurt, but it's not the same as when we were kids, and it makes it more difficult to get the sticks out of a tight spot.
First and foremost, my children enjoy this game and would give it a five-star rating if they could. If you used to play as a kid, however, these are unlikely to be the same. The sticks are extremely slick and roll excessively, making the game far too simple. Even if you try to stack them in a Criss-cross pattern, they will fall apart. They roll away from each other whether they're crossed or playing on carpet.
They're the ideal size and color combination. The shape isn't quite what I recall from my childhood. The playability is harmed by the clear coating. It's unplayable unless you play on carpet because they slide too easily. The sticks are too stiff because of the wood. There is no give, as there would be if the item were made of plastic. Even from 4 inches away from the table, they bounce around like drumsticks when trying to set up the game. It's fine to play on a carpet or outside, but not on tables or other hard surfaces.
The sticks are excessively large. The sticks were thinner and easier to handle when I was a kid when I played this game. It was purchased for my grandson, but he refuses to use it.
We attempted to play pick-up games. Sticks with our 5-year-old, but these are far too varnished and slippery, and when dropped, they all roll off each other, leaving only a few overlaps to play on. They're also, in my opinion, too pointed for small children. I'd suggest roughening up the sticks or making them less polished and blunt.
screens. What I like best about it is that it's a game that requires them to use their minds, figure out strategies, and do so without being plugged into an electronic device; we need to bring these kinds of toys back because social interaction on a competitive field is critical to maintaining a healthy mental attitude. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
