During the Christmas season, I bought this box as a gift for my 6-year-old granddaughter. As soon as she opened the package, she was so excited. Crafts have always been a favorite hobby of mine and her father, and is something I would like to pass on to my grandchild. She wants to get off the damn tablet all the time. And, of course, it will be a great Daddy/Daughter time, which they always Every child works on his or her own craft, with dad helping when necessary.
My granddaughter loves to paint, so I bought her this as a birthday present. My intention was to create a keepsake and get a fun project out of it. We were disappointed that the four paint pots had not been included. In this case, I have no choice but to buy paints or buy something else since I have to buy paints now.
The size of this was very small and cute. Making this project for moms for Mother's Day was a lot of fun for kids. We had so much fun decorating it as they was eager to be little artists at home. (I run an in home daycare) Despite the heart shape box being a little smaller than expected, it was still worth it to see the kids have so much fun and the moms' faces and how much they loved them.
The notebook came as a gift for my daughter who has a lot of collections, and I thought she needed a place to store them all. Having her do the craft part on her own was a huge hit with her, and I was delighted that she enjoyed it. The kit was perfect since it contained everything she would need and I only had to supply her with a paper towel and water to make the brush clean. Since it is only painting and then sticking on all the included sticky gems, it took her no time at all. Although it served the purpose for now, she gets to store her little collection in something she made herself that she feels proud of.
This is another great project to enjoy with my 4 year old granddaughter from Melissa and Doug. Our family spends many months indoors in the Pacific Northwest, so I have purchased a number of Melissa and Doug craft kits to keep us busy while we aren't watching television. As she waited for the paint to dry before moving on to the next step, grandaughter learned the gift of patience. Jewelry with fake glue on it was beloved by her. The area around grandpa's dining table is often used to decorate the jewelry box, so I only use cleaners that are effective.
The jar is perhaps on the small side, but it is perfect for a short art activity, in which kids can place small toys inside or even wear jewelry.
