The Bigfoot charger is equipped with rechargeable lithium batteries that supply power to the camera. The batteries within the Solar Charger are charged by the sun. Because the solar charger does not charge the camera's batteries, you can use less expensive alkaline batteries inside. Because the camera batteries are only used when the Solar charger does not have enough power to feed the camera, the batteries inside the camera can last for up to 14 months after the Solar charger is installed.
The solar charger can be mounted to a pole or tree using this strap. To make it work, you'll need to be a little resourceful with the various mounting components included in the kit. I'll send you a photo if you contact us through our Bigfoot cameras website.
This is a 12 volt solar charger that has only been used with Bigfoot and Reveal cameras. br>I'm not sure if other cameras are compatible. Spartan batteries are only 6 volts, so this won't work.
Yes, a regular solar panel and a 12v sla battery can be used together. The camera's DC tip male is number four. 0x1. 7mm. I've tried a few other solar panels with external 12v batteries, and they don't seem to charge as quickly or last as long as our Bigfoot Solar charger, which has built-in lithium batteries.

Rechargeable batteries were used for the entire season. It can also be used with the Real X Camera. The solar input size for the Reveal X has not changed for anyone who has the Reveal and was using this panel. Before using the panel, make certain it is fully charged. The camera is powered by the panel; I have mine powered by rechargeable batteries. br>UPDATE: 2021br>I'd like to express my gratitude to Western Recreation's customer service team. One of the panels I bought at the end of 2020 said it was fully charged, but it wasn't. This year, I called and explained my problem, and they sent me a replacement panel right away. It's rare to find a company that provides such excellent service in today's world! Thank you! Their solar panel is still one of the best.
More information will be forthcoming. So far, everything has gone well. But it works for the tactacam reveal, and you don't need anything else. I strongly advise you to charge it before using it with your camera.
It's a little frustrating that there aren't any instructions. Before I realized I needed it, I tossed the locking washer from the mount. Before using the panels, make sure they're plugged in to charge the internal battery. Before you put the panel in place, I strongly advise you to look up the angle you need to mount it at. The panels have been in place in subzero temperatures and snow for several weeks. The batteries are still charged at 100%, according to the daily reports. I'd buy them again without a doubt.
The solar charger is described as a 12v plug in the description. My camera has a 12 volt plug, but it does not fit. A camera might require a different adapter, according to the description. The seller did not specify the type of adapter required, and there is no mention of a different adapter on their website. At this time, Amazon has refused to accept my return, so unless the seller is trustworthy, I'm out $69. I'm retired and living on a set salary. I'm in a bad mood right now.
In June 2020, we installed the panel. The lithium battery in the panel will no longer hold a charge for more than a few hours as of this week, January 12 2022; I've been bringing it inside and charging it on my home current for the last few days. This time of year, it gets about 3 hours of sunlight per day, which was sufficient to keep it fully charged until this week. Lithium batteries, in my opinion, have reached the end of their useful lives. Because the battery is sealed inside the panel, I won't be able to replace it, so I'll have to buy a new one.
They take 80 photos per day and would have run out of batteries in two months if they didn't have the solar charger. The cameras are staying at 100% charged for a month after installing the solar charger and I just generally pointed the panel at southwest sky for a month after installing the solar charger As a result, it functions effectively. It was simple to put up- I just wired one to a post and screwed the other two into a tree branch. The cord is long enough to reach a few feet, which came in handy when the camera was on the wrong side of a tree in one location. I placed the charger on the tree's southwest side.
My cameras (cell phones that send images right away) used to go through 12 Lithium Ion batteries every five minutes before these. 6 days. They've already paid their dues.
Everything worked perfectly, and the only reason I gave it a four star rating is because I just finished it.
