This camera is powered by eight AA batteries and has a miniature flash. For connecting to a computer, there is a USB port. I don't have a smart phone, so I can't say definitively that there isn't a way to connect it, but I don't think there is; it has a TV out port and a power in port for external power supply use.
It's completely silent; I took a photo of a mountain lion four feet in front of the camera without hearing or seeing it.
You can view the photos on the camera, but you'll need to insert an SD card for it to save the photos you've taken.
You could have it on set instead of picture mode, but you shouldn't have bought them in the first place. I have five of them, and only one of them works "ok." The others take thousands of pictures of nothing, and I've only had them for a year.

I bought five of these cameras 14 months ago, intending to use them as game cameras in East Texas. Three of them continue to work. The daytime images and video from these cameras are excellent, but the nighttime images are frequently grainy and streaked. The battery life is extremely impressive. After experimenting with high and medium settings, I find that wind blowing grass triggers the cameras. They're simple to set up and use, but I've been using game cameras for a long time. For two reasons, I will not be purchasing any more of these. The first is the manner in which they are made. They will not keep you dry if it rains. They leak, fog up, short out, and the batteries eventually burn out. The second reason is customer service; before I realized I had gone beyond the warranty's limits, I sent an email requesting information about repairs. My fault, but I discovered the service was outsourced to someone with a cryptic command of the English language as a result. I received the following response after asking about the repair process for the two that were out: "I am truly sorry for that, and could you please inform me that none of them are working?"br>To summarize, if you want to use the camera for monitoring purposes, keep it covered and out of direct sunlight.
These are the third and fourth BlazeVideo cameras I've purchased. They appeal to me greatly. After reading a newspaper story about a guy who captured wildlife video outside his suburban home, I bought my first one, the 720p model (SL01, I believe), on the spur of the moment. I was blown away by the quality of the footage it captured, which included a bobcat I had no idea lived in my neighborhood! (Please see the video attached. ) ) So I went out and bought a new one with full 1080p HD to see what I could find in my backyard. Then I made the decision to add one or two more cameras to my home's security system. It's a lot less expensive than installing a security system. The red glow from the infrared LEDs at night is the only issue I have with the first two. Animals don't consider it significant, but if the camera were in his field of vision, he would. These "no-glow" versions are sold as a two-pack by Blaze. pack. I can attest to the fact that they function properly and that the LEDs do not glow! They're pretty much identical to the other two I have. Simple to set up, with the option of four or eight batteries for up to six months of field life. The color videos taken in daylight are fantastic. They're pitch black at night. As you can see in my video, it's in black-and-white and not as sharp, but it's still good. Other trail cameras have been sold for twice the price of these. For what they can do, I believe these are a great deal.
It doesn't have an audio recorder. It takes pictures and/or video for the amount of time you specify, and it can be powered by 4 or 8 AA batteries, giving you more flexibility in terms of power requirements or the amount of time you can keep it in operation before having to change the batteries. br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. I'm having a problem with one of the cameras after only a few months of use. When I close the access door, the camera's power is turned off. I've reached out to BlazeVideo to inquire about their plans. According to the product literature, they offer a one-year warranty on their products. I'll let you know how it turns out.
This is an outstanding camera. I bought two of them, and they're great at picking up after themselves. I bought them because there was a bear within ten feet of my door, and I wanted to see what came through the yard at night. I've seen quite a few animals that come through at night. I've learned not to point it at a low-hanging tree because the camera picks up every movement of a leaf and tiny spiders and their webs when it's set to high. The pictures are good, and the video is good as well. I love looking through the SD card first thing in the morning to see who was here the night before. Re-iterate what others have said. Before resetting the camera, always format the SD card.
I tried them out and was initially disappointed when they didn't work, but later discovered it was due to operator error. It appears to turn off when you turn it on after you've set it up, but it actually takes photos.
For all those who complained that the photos were poor, did you remember to remove the lens protection plastic cover? I have found no flaws with these units; in fact, they are a great value for the money if you take the time to learn how to use them properly.
Yes, I read the camera's instructions, yes, I used eight new AA batteries, yes, I used the correct card size. On the box they arrived in, there was a phone number; YES, I called it a couple of times, but it was not a working phone number. Yes, I went to the website and found an eMail address for help if you were having a problem, and yes, I sent a detailed message outlining the issues I was having and everything I had done to try to solve the problem. The website stated that I would receive a response within 24 hours, and YES, I did receive an email asking what my issue was. I simply recommend that you return to the original message and read it again. I haven't heard anything from them in three days. It's worth mentioning that the camer arrived a week after it was promised. I'm going to return for a refund today.
Ours stopped working after 8 months, so it's a great camera with great customer service. I contacted the seller and was instructed to send it to CA (12). 00). I got a new camera two weeks later. I do wish, however, that the new one had a metal case like my old one.
