Questions & Answers

Will it accommodate papers measuring 8 1/2 x 11?

It is not a perfect fit for 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The safe's interior dimensions are 7 1/2 x 12 inches. It should work if you don't mind slightly bending the paper, but it won't be a perfect fit otherwise.

What are the dimensions of the exterior and interior?

Do the papers in the box mold if they are not placed in an airtight container? Or a substance that absorbs moisture?

I'd put papers in a ziplock bag before putting them in the lockbox if mold is a concern. However, I don't believe it would be necessary in most cases; Perhaps only if it was kept in a humid basement or something similar.

Is this something that can withstand the elements?

Keeping it as high off the ground as possible is a good solution.

The Solution's Worth
5/5

I've spent a lot of time looking into safes. The bottom line is that anyone can gain access to your safe. They're all made in China, which does not want you to be safe. You can also search YouTube for videos on how to break into your specific safe model. That's a different tale altogether. So, for peace of mind, the only thing you can do is invest in something fire-resistant. As a starter, this is the best deal. I wanted something I could move around in case I changed my mind, conditions changed, etc. After using it, I did change my mind about my goal and came up with a strategy for dealing with any future concerns that arose. But this safe gets me started on knowing what I have and keeps it safe in the event of a fire; as for theft, I keep it hidden, and your hiding place should be a real hiding place. I've chosen mine, but I won't start building it until I'm certain I'll need more space. There will be two locations, one with this safe in a hidden location and the other in a semi-hidden location. a place to hide The most valuable items will be kept in this safe because they will be better hidden. If the semi-conductor is discovered, They'll think they have everything if it's kept in a hidden safe.

The dimensions of 5x11 will not fit
3/5

This is a fire-resistant safe for storing important documents and valuables, according to the owner's pamphlet. A document printed on regular paper, for example - 8. 5 x 11 inches - This item will not lay flat. The more important a document is to me, the more careful I am to avoid wrinkles, folding, or bending it. Well, I'm afraid you're going to have a hard time with this safe. And, while it says it's for documents, it also says it shouldn't be used to store firearms (which is odd, but I guess it's okay). I wasn't planning on putting a claymore sword in a 0. ), and other weapons (well, I wasn't planning on putting a claymore sword in a 0. ). So, it's a safe size of 18 cubic feet. ), flammable materials (wait a minute, aren't documents flammable? Is it for the safekeeping of your local pharaoh's documents and valuables? ) and medicine (OK, I'm not going to put my dipenhydramine in here, but is it too much to ask to put something made of paper in a document safe? br>br>Perhaps they're referring to a specific technical definition of combustible, but why would you need to store something in a fire-resistant safe if it's not combustible by any definition? br>br>Sure, it appears to be reasonably well built, especially if weight is any indication (it's quite heavy), but the inability to lay documents flat and the fact that combustibles should not be stored in it seriously detract from the overall rating.

Arrived with a crack
3/5

Too Fragile was one of the items I purchased during the Black Friday shopping week. When I first opened the package, I noticed two LARGE cracks. Please look at the pictures. I'm extremely disappointed. How could it protect the contents if it is so fragile? Returning this to a UPS store is such a hassle. I suppose I'll have to do that right now. Other considerations: br>br> br>br>You won't be able to fit A4 sheets in there. It does, however, have a lock, albeit a crude one. But, of course, the goal here isn't to prevent theft. br>Heavy, but not as heavy as those made of metals.

Because of the construction of these types of safes, it is recommended that jewelry with moving parts and paper goods be stored in plastic, sealable bags to protect them from water damage and mold
3/5

The product information on the main page makes no mention of this. I've had these cases in the past and used them to store only my passport and car paperwork, and they've molded badly. I assumed they had updated the cases or that I had received a defective one, but the case paperwork clearly outlines this minor issue. br>br>As a result, if you purchase this case, you should be aware that you may need to take additional precautions to protect your belongings.

It appears to have been worn! I just got this, and it appears to be in good condition
3/5

The white pieces on the inside are the result of me turning the lock and the plaster falling out. I'm not sure if it was previously used or if it was simply of poor quality.

It's ideal for what I'm looking for
5/5

I learned that the lock on this box will not keep anyone out after watching YouTube videos about it. With a paperclip and no skills, it's simple to pick. However, I am unconcerned about this. The same videos showed me that the box is fire and water resistant, which is exactly what it should be. That is the only thing that concerns me. My only concerns are fires and floods because I live in an exurb with almost no crime. Only important documents (birth certificates, social security cards, wills, etc. ) will be stored in this box. For added protection for my documents, I purchased two 5X8 inch fire resistant bags to store in this box. Depending on your situation and intended use, this box could be a good buy for the money. I give it two thumbs up!.

A faulty lock has been installed
3/5

I bought it six months ago and have only had it open for seven months. 8 times. The key became stuck in the lock the last time and refused to come out no matter what I tried. I'd hate to think what would have happened if it had gotten stuck closed instead of open (we were fortunate).

I'm not sure if it's airtight or waterproof because there's a chalky residue inside
4/5

I was told it was part of the fireproofing because it has white chalky stuff coming out of it. Will it, therefore, continue to function? There has been no response, and return shipping is prohibitively expensive, so I'm not sure what to do. Update: Sentry Safe was finally contacted, and it was discovered that the white chalky substance is fireproofing cement. It is not well cleaned by the manufacturer, but it will still function. I'm relieved to learn that I'm not required to return it. I'll put up with the scuffs because they're not too bad. YEA!.
