Questions & Answers

So, you can think of this as constantly pumping hot water through your pipe system. Not only when you need it, but whenever you want! This seems like it would waste a lot of energy. It is, is it not?

As you will be converting your pipes into a big radiant heater every time you use it, you will likely be increasing your water heating costs significantly. It is possible to set the timer to only have it come on at set periods, but this works best if you have a very rigid There was another way to approach this problem. A TP-Link adapter was plugged into the unit The Link HS110 Smart plug can be controlled by Alexa. The control of the hot water pump can be as simple as saying turn on hot water pump or turn off hot water pump. for me, that was not good enough. It has been confirmed that if this pump runs for four minutes, hot water will be provided to the distant shower that I desire, so the following steps have been taken. Turning on the pump for four minutes, waiting for it to cool, and turning it off would be my routine. Even though I can manage it with my voice, I bought the new Amazon Alexa Button. They cost about $14 for a pair. forms a communication link with another Alexa device. Right before I take a shower, I will press the button, and within four minutes the water will be hot without having to run any

It is obvious that the sensor valve closes when the pump is running and the water is hot, isn't it? Pumping water against an entirely closed line would seem to be an impossible task. ?

During the sensor warming up period, the cold water in the hot water line is moved to the cold water line, thus allowing the cold water in the hot water line to remain warm. When the sensor senses a fault with the valve, the flow to the cold water is shut off, which would keep the cold water from warming excessively if the sensor work properly. It's an awesome concept as long as it works. If there were a perfect world, there would be no need for adding The idea seems good to me. I think this is a great piece of

What if I remove the sensor valve from the system?

In short, yes. You can still use your water heater as long as your water heater has a return line. The return line does not need to be separate at each The return line must follow your hot water pipe all the way to the end (last branch takeoff in the plumbing branch), then cut in a tee and run the copper or pex pipe. Usually there are three or four small, plastic valves attached to the bottom of your tank style water heater. You are now ready to screw a 3/4" brass or stainless pipe nipple in place of the valve. Install a brass drain valve in the end of the tee in order to replace the crappy plastic one if applicable, and install it in line with the side outlet looking up. On the tee you installed, there is a side connection to which you can connect the return line you have Having said that, I did not notice if this pump had a check valve built in, but if it does not, you may want one to prevent water flowing through both the hot water main and the hot water return pipe to the faucet closest to Since water always follows the path of least resistance, the last branch on the main end usually ends up being relatively close to the water heater from either side of the heating system. In effect, water will come back into the heating system via the return as cold water enters the tank. It is especially true when you have a second source of hot water running at the same time. This is where a check valve is helpful.

Can you tell me how many amps the pump uses?

There is no problem with the pump running There is a supply current recommendation of 2 amps, and this panel draws 22 amps. The current flow rate is 5 A. There is no need for an additional wall outlet, as it only needs a 15 Amp plug. This is the Pumps are typically designed for 22 Amps of start up current, but the actual running current will be somewhat less. When the motor is starting up, it will have a high inrush current, and then the actual running current will be lower. For example, a 1 HP motor has an inrush current of 34 amps, but will drop to about 7 once it reaches its normal operating speed. The current required is quite a bit lower at 5 Amps, but the breaker must be able to handle the inrush current.

DISPLAYS NO MARKING AND IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY HOT WATER HEATER Don't forget to check first
3/5

We had a smooth installation process in our new property. It would not get hotter than lukewarm due to the poor quality of the water. Those in the Amazon Community who offered to help me, thinking I had a bad sensor, are to be commended. Nevertheless, it didn't work like that. My water heater manufacturer, Rheem, and Watts (the maker of the pump), spent days on the phone trying to figure out whether the pump was compatible with all models of hot water tanks. In my case, they knew the pump would not work based on my model. On the other hand, they don't mention it in the on-line The line specification is as follows I asked them about this lack of information, and they admitted it to me. It's therefore best to check with Watts to make sure that you really are ready to go, first. You can start by looking in your User's Manual for your Hot Water Tank, and make sure you look for "Heat Traps" in the Nippel connectors. The problem is the "Heat Trap" in the spigot inlet to the hot water tank and the outlet to the cold water tank. In order to maximize efficiency, the Heat Trap keeps the heat in the tank. Due to this Watts pump, you are actually circulating out the heat, so the Heat Trap does not work. The problem is, to remove the Nipple with Heat Trap from the Hot Water Tank and replace it with a normal Nipple doesn't seem possible. No I couldn't remove the Nipples with a large pipe wrench (I even searched on YouTube for ways to remove them) The tank can be damaged if this is done. In other words, I pulled out the parts of the Heat Trap that are part of it. The pump now works better, however, but not to the extent that it was The fact that I removed the flaps likely voids the warranty on my Hot Water Tank, but I needed the hot water! I am disappointed. I can only give this pump a 3 mainly because 1) Watts never states anything about incompatibility in the specification, and 2) It does not deliver the hot water in my case as advertised, even after I take out the flaps on am satisfied with the product, it was a lot easier for me to install than I had anticipated, but I was really disappointed with it. It will be up to me in the next couple of days to decide if I want to I suggest keeping the pump since it is better to have pretty warm water rather than very cold water for a long time. It will all depend on how things go.

This is false advertising
3/5

It was advertised as a universal water heater that worked on all tanks. A water heater with a heat trap, however, won't work with this item. The majority of modern tank type water heaters come with heat traps. I did not find any mention of this in any documentation, and it only occurred to me after I installed it. As a result, I now have to pay for the pumps, the labor to install them, and now the labor to take them out. It is impossible to even think that the product manufacturer attempted to make an excuse or apologize.

Save money and time by using our service

We would have to run the faucets or the shower for up to 5 minutes without the recirculating pump, so we could get hot water in our upstairs master bathroom. My initial reaction has been to say that I am extremely happy with my new system six weeks after implementing My timer will come on between 5 p. m. and 6 p. m. In the morning and in the evening The hours of 600 AM and 1000 AM In the morning and in the evening Between 600 PM and 700 PM I have it set to be on for 15 minutes and then off for 15 minutes during those times, as well. My wait for hot water has never been longer than a few seconds so far. While I haven't seen a full month's worth of water bill with the new pump, it is expected that it will save considerable amounts of water. It would have been fairly easy for me to do myself, but I had to call a friend who is a plumber to help me to install it. There are a couple of customer reviews that complain that the cold side of the faucet has warmer water. By moving the colder water in the hot line back to the water heater via the cold side, the cold side becomes less cold than usual for a few seconds after the hot water faucet has not been used for a while. After that, the cold side becomes more cold as usual. The temperature of the water rises There is no question that it is a minor inconvenience, which is more than compensated for Besides the cost savings, just being able to rinse your hands in warm water, or to jump into a hot shower on a chilly morning without having to wait for it to heat up definitely makes it worth it.

It's a relief to be done! We live in an older house, and even though we have a new water heater, it took us over 4 minutes to reach even slightly warm water in We wasted 40 years of our lives on this wasteful and frustrating project! I knew I had to try this product as soon as I saw This was one of the best decisions I've made
5/5

It was my first time working with plumbing and I'd never worked with basic tools before. There were all the parts that I needed included, and I had a nearby outlet near the heater to make things easy. Please consider the following As instructed by the instructions, the hot water heater did not need to be turned off and emptied totally. Before disconnecting the "hot water out" hose at the top of our gas water heater, I only drained a few cups of sludge out of the bottom of the water heater into a small bucket. The under-mount should be connected first Before crawling under the sink to make connections to the sensor itself, it is much better to make the connections to the sensor first. Please take caution Double-check your work It is important to make sure that the sensor is connected to the hot/cold side, so that connection is not accidentally reversed. About an hour was required to complete the installation. It is quiet and efficient (I left my unit on all the time and connected it to a smart plug) when it is functioning. I no longer waste water running my hot water after over 40 years of annoying and wasteful water use. In less than 30 seconds it runs immediately warm and scaldingly hot! Having hot water inside and out is such a blessing that I waste no water by turning on the faucets to marvel at how great it is. This book is highly recommended! Despite my first week, I still love it!.
