The orange gasket is, in fact, for the lid.
If that's the part of the lid you're trying to take apart, there are two small slots for a flathead screwdriver to pry the cover away from the pump handle.
Yes, there are instructions included, but they are easy to find.

Because I don't use my Solo sprayer very often, it wouldn't hold the pressure when I tried to pressurize the tank with the built-in pump when I took it out of storage to spray some of my plants and yard. The issue was with the main seal in the cover, which was supposed to seal the tank as you screwed it on. The seal had developed cracks as a result of drying out during storage. As a result, I purchased a Solo repair kit that included all of the necessary seals. It came quickly, and since I had brand new seals, I decided to replace them all. To make a long story short, my Solo Sprayer is as good as new (this time I'm lubricating the main seal to keep it supple when not in use).
I needed a new O ring, and this kit had it. However, I'll point out that the large red ring on my sprayer is made differently. As the new one shifted, allowing air in, I replaced it with my old one. To get the lid airtight, I had to crank, crank, crank. Where the old one was rounded all the way around, the new one has a flat area.
All o-'s were replaced. The thing now works like new, thanks to new rings and gaskets. br>Wow, that's fantastic!.
The primary objective is to The ring for building pressure on the piston, the second largest in the kit, and the one I really needed to fix my sprayer. Is the old o- is loose-fitting junk. After I replaced the failed ring, I got about eight to ten good pumps before the o-ring broke. The ring will come loose from its groove. That happened three times before I gave up. The kit was not worth the money, so I'm going to get an o-ring from my local hardware store. ring. It was probably something I should have done from the start.
I went from being unable to pressurize the tank to achieving a high level of pressure with very little pumping. While I was disassembling the pump, I went ahead and replaced all of the seals, which fit perfectly. I'll keep the wand seals in reserve for when they're required. Buy with confidence because this appears to be a Solo branded product in its original packaging.
The only additional item you'll require is silicone grease to lubricate the O rings.
This kit works perfectly with my Solo 456 model.
Make your sprayer work again! For a small fee, replace all of the rings on your rig! BEST QUALITY ON THE MARKET!.
