Yes, it was!
A previous version was also replaced. In 2003, I built my boat. It should either be a direct replacement or a step up. To be sure 100%, check the manual or installation guide.

It goes together quickly and easily, despite the fact that none of the instructions included in the box explain how to do so. (It's all about installing a new head. ) ) View their videos on their website. br>br>It DOES come with a "joker" valve (despite what one review claimed), but only one mounting screw for some reason. (I'm not sure why there's only one. ) Four are required, but because they are stainless and will be used in plastic, your four old ones will suffice. )br>br>Big surprise (not) - Your local boat parts store will charge you $30 more for this part. br>br>The job was not nearly as messy as I had anticipated. I double-checked that the MSD had been flushed with fresh (lake) water and that the holding tank had been emptied. The supply hoses let out about 1/2 cup of water. br>br>I'm not sure how well these Jabsco heads work, but if you have to deal with one, this is a relatively painless way to do it. My head is now the most up-to-date design!.
Last weekend, I took my girl and her teenage daughter to the beach for the first time, and lo and behold, the pump froze. After snaking everything back to the joker valve, I'm guessing there's a blockage inside the pump prior to the joker valve, based on the strong pneumatic resistance. We only use the head on rare occasions, and my partner and I are both marines who know not to "horse" it by flushing it with fluids and treatments, etc. , so there's no doubt in my mind that it has outlived its usefulness. When I was a month into the warranty, Jabsco said to me: br>br>"Because the joker valve is a serviceable item, it must be inspected on a regular basis to avoid this. "br>br>I'm not sure how many of you decide to "regularly" pop your joker valve out on your precious days off, but I'm not one of them. I'll never think of doing it more than once a year, and I'll never do it willingly. AND MY PREVIOUS PUMP HAD SERVED ME WELL FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS.
The new locking feature is certainly useful, as other reviewers have stated. For only $20 more than a rebuild kit, you could get this entire pump kit on Amazon. What a fantastic offer! br>br>Admittedly, this kit is essentially a plug-and-play replacement for the Jabsco heads, and it drew my attention right away. I bought mine on Amazon and rushed out to the boat, where it took 15 minutes to install (wear rubber gloves, you'll thank me later) and I was smiling every time I flushed, because the stuff actually went away - My old pump, ahem, had stopped working. br>br>Now, we're not big fat people who eat greasy foods all day and use the bathroom on the boat all day. Heck, we only stay on the boat one night a week, and that night we may even be at the boat club, where we will use the nice bathrooms in the clubhouse instead of the boat. The boat spends the rest of the week on my seawall, resting up for the weekend ahead. The point I'm making is that In no way, shape, or form do we use or abuse the Jabsco head. br>br>In fact, as Jabsco recommends, we flush white vinegar down it every now and then. What? Yup. The joker valve is cleaned with this tool. I'm full of helpful hints, as you can see. I also bought West Marine head lube, which I use about once a month. I mean, I really take care of this thing because you "really" need it to work when you need it. Particularly if you have the in-house expertise. On the board of directors or the boss, for example. br>br>Now let's return to the Jabsco 29090 series replacement pump kit. I've had it for three months and now the handle on the dry flush pushes back at me as if it's under back pressure, and water is leaking from the metal rod piston assembly! What the hell is going on here? Of course, it's past Amazon's return policy, but that's just bad luck on my part. I contacted Jabsco (now a different company), and they provided me with a replacement under their warranty policy. This unit has lost a lot of its credibility in my opinion. br>br>My original Jabsco pump assembly served me well for 16 years. This one went on for three months. For your consideration, a bit of perspective. Caveat Emptor is a phrase that means "be careful what you wish for. ".
This is the third one I've bought, and they're all garbage. Because the plastic is so cheap, the tabs on the body of the unit that hold the top plate in place break off after only a few uses. After that, the unit begins to leak, and you can imagine how bad it smells after a few days. This is the first time I've had a problem with Jabsco toilets on my boats in over (40) years. This, I imagine, is what happens when everything is made in China. I'm hoping Raritan can come up with something better.
3 Update. Fixing things, particularly pumps, is a big part of owning a boat. This pump was purchased to replace one of my boat's two pumps. It doesn't get any easier than this when it comes to installation. The twist-and-lock feature is also fantastic. The fact that the fixtures haven't changed is something I really appreciate. My boat was 28 years old when I bought it, and it still sat perfectly. Wow. I'm going to get another one for the other head. Pump is so good that I just ordered a second one for the second head in August 2020.
It's simple to improve your Jabsco manual toilet with a simple update. To keep things clean, pump out first and keep paper towels and sanitizer on hand, as well as nitrile gloves on hand. Aside from that, a simple task. It's not worth it to save a few dollars by replacing only the gaskets. br>br>Loosen the end nozzle and don't tighten the clamps on the hose that connects to it until the four Phillips screws that secure the pump have been tightened first; the nozzle rotates slightly, ensuring an airtight fit. Last but not least, secure the nozzle and hose clamps.
It was a simple and quick process to install the system. I took advantage of the opportunity to clean the hoses and the area behind the toilet, making everything look almost new. The pump is fantastic! It requires less pumping to remove items from the bowl, and there is no backflow.
I was able to get rid of my headaches! I had no idea how crucial the pump was. I went from having to pump about ten times a day to only having to pump once every two weeks. It used to take 20 pumps to get the flush water to come in, but now it only takes about 2 pumps. 3 times. This component on my boat should have been replaced a long time ago (my old pump was at least ten years old).
