Questions & Answers

Can I use the 1100 cartage pump instead of the 800gph 46dr pump that I have?

Hello,br>No, the impeller on the 1100GPH cartridge will rub against the inner part of the housing because it is slightly larger than the 800GPH cartridge. br>Best regards, Xylem.

How long do you think the wires are going to be? And what is the scale?

The wires on the one I'm selling are 26 inches long. My 46dr pump (800gph) had failed, and it was too much for my small livewell. Will the 45-degree (500-mile-per-hour) engine fit?

Yes, the 45DR cartridge will fit into the same body as the 800 cartridge, Lynn. br>Best regards, Xylem.

What is the procedure for removing the motor cartrige? twist?

Only one thing comes to mind: I pressed the release button. I'm not sure if you need to twist it. Sorry

It only lasted two months before the shaft rusted out again! Garbage at a low price There isn't a single star in this review
3/5

In 2019, I purchased a slightly used 2019 295 Everglades that came with this brand and size pump, which lasted just over a year. I'm not sure if the Rule was installed by the previous owner or if it came from Everglades, but the impeller shaft on that one rusted out in late March 2020, so I assumed it was just a bad pump and bought another. I installed it on April 1st, and the impeller shaft rusted out and the pump failed 80 miles offshore on June 20th, 2020, ruining our $800 fishing trip. ONLY 2. THIS PUMP HAS BEEN IN SERVICE FOR FIVE MONTHS! This is intolerable! I flush my pumps after every trip to get the saltwater out, but they always fail in the same way; China must have cheapened the stainless steel used in the shaft, and Jabsco Rule must have no quality control. My other boat has three Johnson spx pumps, which are still going strong after four seasons. Rule should be avoided at all costs. Because the marine industry wants to blame failed components on the environment, I've included a photo of the bilge area to demonstrate how clean the boat is and how well maintained it is, with very little corrosion or rust. It is not in my bilge!.

After two months of use, the same issue occurred
3/5

I agree with what has been said before. The product is a sham! It lasted two months after I replaced the original two-year-old pump with a new rule 800 GPH pump. These were not designed to withstand saltwater, and the spindle broke after only a few fishing trips. Complete garbage that will void the warranty on rule products. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I spoke with the warranty department at Rule Products (978-) and they were extremely helpful. 281- 440 They told me that if I faxed them a receipt, they would replace the part. 281- Make sure to include your address in the 4320 field. Still a POS product, but I'm not in the mood to replace my entire livewell system. I guess I'll just keep returning them. Best of luck!.

The issue with these pumps is that they're designed to
3/5

The issue with these pumps is that they are designed to fail quickly, particularly in salt water. A short shaft is connected to the small rotor or fan on the bottom of the pump, which spins and causes the water to "pump" through the system. The issue is that the shaft rusts out and breaks off, leaving you with a working motor but a pump that no longer pumps water. I've had my boat for more than ten years and have to replace the pump at least twice a year. The most recent replacement was only in place for two months. Because I keep the boat in the water, it's difficult to change out the through-hull fittings, which is why I keep buying and replacing this pump. A simple stainless steel shaft would likely extend the pump's life, but you'd have to replace it less frequently.

Failure that occurs too soon
3/5

This pump's quick-change design is excellent, but it would be even better if the complete pump kit included a wiring kit that included an inline fuse and a sealed connector. The pump side connector half, for example, could be included in this item. This is a minor point that would significantly improve the user experience. friendly. br>br>When this unit is running, it makes a high-pitched whine, which I was able to reduce by building a sound insulating box out of 1" closed cell foam. I'm not sure if the fish are affected by the noise. br>br>I got this unit brand new on November 6th and installed it a week later. The impeller shaft had rusted through by January 6th, rendering the unit useless. This is a frustrating failure mode because the unit appears to be operating but no flow is being produced. You could lose all of your bait if you aren't paying attention or don't have a way to track the flow rate. br>br>I'm guessing there are multiple manufacturing facilities producing these because the Statement of Origin is a sticker that was placed over the original Statement of Origin on the packaging. The materials and quality of the units may differ depending on where they were made. I didn't inform Rule of my failure. br>br>.

Garbage
3/5

This live well pump was installed in October of 2020 to replace the boat's original pump, which had failed after four years of near-constant use. I haven't used my boat in at least four of the last six months due to cold weather. This pump is no longer functional. The propeller shaft had rusted out and needed to be replaced. I'm not going to buy anything else from this designer. I'll be shopping for another brand after writing this review because of the shoddy materials and workmanship. This could be replaced with a five-gallon bucket. As a follow-up: I've been trying for four days to contact someone from Rule to discuss the rusting issue, but have been unsuccessful. There has been no feedback, and I have, of course, passed my return window with Amazon. So, to put it bluntly, I'm "screwed. " Aren't you concerned about it as well?.

At first, there was a lot of noise
3/5

Although the pump functioned properly, it was extremely loud. The impeller needed to be filed with fine sandpaper. When it was running, it rubbed against the housing. It became quieter after I removed a small amount of the material. br>I have to say, the pump's change out design is incredible, especially considering it only takes 30 seconds to replace after connecting the electrical connector. Working in a boat's bilge isn't much fun, so kudos for the overall design.

After three months of use, the device became unusable
3/5

The shaft broke after three months of use, costing $40 in bait and ruining the entire fishing trip (worthless). When I bought this item, I didn't read the reviews first and had the same problem as everyone else. When the Rule 800GPH pumps were made in the United States, I had two of them. It has a 15-year life span. Switching to a different manufacturer in the hopes of extending the life of the product.

a significant cost savings when compared to a complete replacementbr>br>EDIT: br> I see I ordered this in June and am now ordering another one, not because I like it so much, but because I needed one for my other boat. This one had already burned out after only three months. I believe I only used it three times. That's a colossal sum of money! BUMMER.
