I went with the old one.
I'm not sure how many horses this pump has, but it's a lot more powerful than the one I had before. I'm very pleased with this pump, and it has performed admirably thus far.
The pump was put in by my plumber. He made no mention of the float requiring a bracket. I called the manufacturer before buying this unit to make sure it was a direct replacement, and it was.
This is the same pump as the previous one.

In the basement of our home, we have a Star Water Systems S1101 Upflush Toilet System. The pump began to hum and then stopped working. We didn't know how old the original pump was because we were the house's second owners, so we chose to replace it with this unit. The new pump is far more durable than the old one. Some customers have inquired as to whether a new metal bracket is included, as the one in the tank is likely to be rusted. It is not included, but it is not required because the new pump is heavier than the original and will fit in the tank just fine. The instruction sheet's small print and small diagrams are the only things that could be improved. It would be nice if they were a little bigger, because you need to figure out where the float switch is in the tank before selecting and assembling the correct float rod for it.
S1102. The new one, unlike the original, is made of heavy cast iron rather than plastic. This is a huge improvement! It's a little bigger, but it fits fine, and it probably weighs a couple of pounds. The new one costs five times as much as the previous one. There's no need to use an old mounting bracket because this one is sturdy enough to stay put, and the original medal bracket was rusted away! I was initially concerned that I had received the incorrect pump, but after reading online reviews, I was confident that I had. It is a perfect fit.
The new one is easier to install, quieter, and faster than the old one, which was mostly plastic and required a bracket to keep it in place. This one is made entirely of cast iron and will not be moved. It has a lot of weight!.
For my pump, it was a simple swap. It was an excellent solution. It was a pain to set up.
This pump outperforms the original in terms of quality. It is hoped that it will last as long as the previous one.
This pump was purchased to replace the one that was in my basement bathroom flushing system. I can assure you that this pump is far superior to the unit's original pump. This pump was solidly built and heavy. I used to hear the original pump upstairs in my bedroom when the toilet in the basement was flushed, but I don't hear it anymore since the replacement was installed. This was a fantastic purchase.
