Questions & Answers
Yes, both directions of flow are possible. There isn't a single valve component in sight. It's just a simple gate that opens from zero to 100% flow.
Hello there, I'm happy to respond to your query. Whether or not the flow is limited is determined by the fixture and the water pressure available. When the valve is fully open, the water restriction is almost imperceptible if you already have a restricted shower head. The flow reduction will be noticeable if you have an unrestricted shower head, but it will not interfere with normal use. It will not drip when it is completely closed if the connection type and size of your fixture are compatible with our valves and they are properly connected. I hope this has been of assistance.
I believe it is a well-made brass fitting in terms of weight and function. However, there is a chance that something plastic is present inside. I haven't taken mine apart to look at it on that level. It is extremely effective. In our house, we use it on a daily basis. I wish I could find this level of product quality with every purchase.
In the United States, 1/2" pipe thread is used. Your shower arm, like the sprayer attachment and its hoses, is 1/2" in diameter.

It has a nice design, is easy to use, and is comfortable to wear. The valve is of excellent quality with a perfect nickel finish. This valve can be turned off 100% (no water flow), and it doesn creap or change settings. The only issue is that is not disclosed in the description that by design the valve blocks 60% or more of the water flow EVEN WHILE WIDE OPEN. It isn't a ball valve or a gate valve in the traditional sense. This valve isn't the right valve if 100% flow is required. It works for me in my shower, but I wish I could get 100% flow for shower cleaning. br>br>Unfortunately, you won't get full flow from any shower head valve, especially this one, unless you buy a full 1/2 diameter ball valve. This is something I believe should be mentioned in the description, and if it is, I will give it 5 stars. For the time being, the descriptions are missing a crucial piece of information.
It's solid metal, for example, with no flaws in the threads. It works well after a difficult installation that should have been simple. It does not leak when the valve is turned off! When threaded to the shower head holder (portable) and pipe, the water volume slider control faced the shower head holder and could not be adjusted during a shower (it rubbed against the holder). I had to make my own much thicker rubber washer to get the control facing away from the holder. The valve's included washer is extremely thin. Perhaps another thicker washer should be included so that the customer can mix and match washers to get the control facing the correct way after the valve is installed. This valve would get a 5 if it weren't for my issue. If you're lucky, you won't have to deal with this issue. For a different shower, I purchased a different manufacturer's valve with a different finish, which took about 5 minutes to install (rather than the 20 minutes for this valve).
To begin with, I despise businesses that install flow controls on shower heads. I always take them out by force, if necessary breaking the control, but being careful not to damage the shower head itself. Second, if your location has a high water flow, such as mine, this is a must because I need to avoid being hit by a fire hose water pressure while showering (I'm exaggerating) after removing the flow control. Third, I prefer to turn off the water while soaping and shaving, but I despise being sprayed with freezing water when I turn it back on. This device allows me to turn off the water while remaining away from the main water handle, ensuring that the water remains at the proper temperature when I turn it back on. br>br>I'm going to get another one for my second bathroom.
I placed a total of three orders for these. The first one was perfect, but the second wouldn't completely stop the water 100%, so I ordered a replacement which did the same thing. I'm still pleased, but if you want to completely stop the water, you may need to try a different brand or return several of these until you find one that works perfectly. These give you complete control over the flow of water, from almost none to full. I did notice a slight decrease in water flow when compared to when the regulator was not in place, but it was insignificant. The change is less than a 2010% change.
This regulator has made me very happy. The only thing to remember is to 1) remove the water regulator from inside the showerhead or appliance to allow the most amount of water to flow through. This ensures that the valve has a wide water flow range. Second, if your showerhead is mounted very high on the wall, such as 7 feet, make sure you can reach above it because that's where the valve will be, and you'll need to be able to reach it to change the flow. The best part about this valve is that my wife and I have different water pressure preferences in the shower, and this valve allows us to adjust it to our liking. Because she is unable to reach it, I must adjust it.
This has been running for over a month, with three people using the shower at the same time. It was a simple installation, and this is clearly a high-quality product; grasping the lever and manipulating the flow from zero to full-flow is very comfortable. Even when under duress, moving is not difficult. I'm 5'10" tall, and I was worried that it would lower the height of the shower head to the point where I'd have to crouch while rinsing out my hair, but it's compact, and I don't even notice it. The only minor quibble I have is that there's a "tipping point" on the lower end where the volume of sound is louder, so I usually run it a little harder than I'd prefer when showering just to keep it It's a minor annoyance, and I probably only notice it because I get up a few hours before my wife due to my work schedule, and I don't like making extra noise; if it weren't for that, I wouldn't give a damn. To be clear, this noise factor is a minor annoyance that most people would overlook, and it has no bearing on the rating; however, it is worth mentioning.
Because almost all high-quality shower heads have a one-gallon-per-minute flow restriction, Although a flow of 5 gpm or less is usually sufficient, a higher flow may be required on occasion. Taking out the O- A shower head's ring flow restrictor allows for more flow than is required for everyday use. I purchased flow restrictors specifically for my Delta shower head, but they did not fit. The next option was to install this valve. It has a nice brushed nickel finish that matches my Delta product, and now when I'm cleaning the shower tiles, I can open it up to 4 gpm and then pinch it back down to about 1. 75- Showering with a normal flow rate is 0 gpm. The only thing I'd caution against is overtightening the shower pipe connection, as this can force the flat gasket into the unit, preventing it from sealing. Hand tighten, turn on the shower, restrict the flow, and then light tighten with a wrench until no drips remain.
The water saver in the shower head is too restrictive; removing it is simple, but my shower head only has temperature control, not flow. This is what I used to control the flow of water, and it works wonderfully.
