Questions & Answers

What makes the u020lfa and the uip4020a different?

Hello there, the UIP4020A is a PVC to copper, PEX, or CPVC transition coupling. PVC is served by the white collar side of the fitting, while copper, PEX, or CPVC is served by the beige collar side. PVC has a different pipe size (Iron Pipe Size) than copper, PEX, or CPVC, which are measured in copper tube size, and the U020LFA is not a transition coupling. On both sides (beige collar on both sides), it will only work with copper, PEX, or CPVC.

Is it possible to use this in a subterranean setting?

Yes, they can be used below ground, but I wouldn't put them under a slab/concrete so that if a leak occurs in the future, it'll be easy to find.

Is it possible to connect cpvc and pex using this method?

Hello,br>br>SharkBite part UIP4016A's white end is designed to work with Schedule 40/80/120 PVC or Schedule 40/80 CPVC. This fitting's tan end is compatible with the pipe and tubing listed below. The SharkBite fitting part U016LFA is recommended for connecting CTS (copper tube size) CPVC to PEX. Will this fitting connect a 3/4 inch copper pipe to a regular 3/4 inch copper pipe if the copper pipe is the exact same size as a 3/4 inch PVC pipe?

Hello,br>br>The tan end of SharkBite fitting part UIP4016A is designed to fit 3/4" nominal CTS (copper tube size) rigid copper pipe with a 7/8" outside diameter. Only Schedule 40, 80, or 120 PVC or Schedule 40 or 80 CPVC have been tested and approved for use with the white end of this fitting. We don't have any testing to back up the fitting's reliability when used with IPS (iron pipe size) copper pipe, so we can't recommend it for this use. If you have any further questions about how to use SharkBite products, please call our technical support department at 877-SHARKBITE. 700- 4242 Best Regards, br>br>

Selected User Reviews For SharkBite PVC Fitting UIP4020A 1 inch X 1 inch CTS, PVC Connector to Copper, PEX, CPVC, HDPE or PE-RT for Potable Water

This is the first time I've used a Sharkbite, and it's the only one I've ever used
5/5

Soldered fittings or PVC are the most common materials I use. I needed to switch from copper to PVC for a system change. It was in a very confined space, and my attempts to sweat in a fitting failed miserably. My brother persuaded me to get a Sharkbite brace. Compression and "special" fittings are two things I usually avoid. However, I gave in and paid $21 for the transition fitting. I burned off the old sweat fitting, cleaned up the pipe, slipped on the Sharkbite, and checked for any looseness before slipping in the PVC. Everything seemed as if it were drum-like in its precision. As a result, I started the pump and waited for the pressure to rise. When my system reached pressure, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was not a single drop of leakage. I'm sold!.

For my well, this is a nice transition piece
4/5

I need to convert the 'Blue' pex type water line from my well to 1 inch pvc through the basement wall. My tank and accessories were moved under the stairwell in my basement. I looked at a lot of different options at my usual supply stores until I came across this one while looking for something else. My goal was to reduce the amount of restriction (water flow) and to maximize the amount of space available for my intended purpose. Originally, I used another brand that was conveniently priced at a 90 and was designed to match two types of pex, but it was made of hard plastic, and knowing how brittle some plastics can become over time, I wasn't confident in its longevity, so I switched to regular PVC. Maybe I'll take a picture of it later and post it here.

Fitting that is simple to use and lasts for a long time
5/5

When using pex tubing, this is a great product to use. It was a breeze to put on and has held up admirably under constant stress. These fittings appeal to me because they do not require sweating copper joints or the use of specialized pex tools. It simplifies plumbing as a do-it-yourself project. These fittings are the way to go if you only have a small amount of plumbing to do (my project was an outdoor kitchen). I believe that if you have a lot, investing in specialized tools is worthwhile - These fixtures aren't cheap.

What an ingenious idea! It was almost too simple to set up
5/5

It's simple to join 1- inch copper pipe with a 1-inch diameter inch PVC. I used it for my laundry room basin drain, and it's been flawless so far, with not a single drop of water. It's not necessary to use any fasteners or adhesives.

For 1" copper, it worked perfectly
5/5

I used this fitting to install a Rachio wireless flow meter on 1" copper pipe, and it worked flawlessly. To ensure a proper fit, measure twice and cut once. There are no leaks, the Rachio fits snugly, and it can be turned to access the battery compartment without leaking.

Sharkbite is a blessing in disguise
5/5

If you had told me about sharkbite fittings ten years ago, I would have told you that nothing like that could ever exist; it reminds me of Star Trek episodes where they simply point a gizmo at an injury and it heals itself. It's that amazing!.

Conversion is simple and quick
5/5

No leaks. This was precisely what I needed to make the transition from PVC to PEX. My entire house is now free of exposed PVC or copper, which would have froze and burst during the bad weather. I don't think there's any way to go wrong with this installation. It's that easy.

It performs exactly as expected
5/5

I've had it installed in a behind-the-scenes environment for two months and have had no problems with it. the- installation of a wall It was ridiculously simple to put it together. More expensive than the competition, but worth it for the convenience. Comes with a removal tool for the Copper/PEX side.
