Moen 2570 Rough-In Posi-Temp Pressure Balancing Cycling Shower Valve with Stops, 1/2-Inch CC

For more than 30 years, I've worked as a maintenance engineer in high-rise hotels in Las Vegas with up to 3000 rooms. My personal favorite is the Moen PosiTemp shower valve, which has a low failure rate and is simple to repair if something goes wrong. (Replace the cartridge by pulling one clip. ) ) Moen offers an excellent warranty and customer service. Many of my friends have contacted them, and they have promptly dispatched replacement parts, as well as any specialty tools that may be required. br>I'm so fond of this valve that I installed it in my home. br>I like how there is no change in temperature and only a slight change in pressure if someone flushes the toilet or runs the washer while I'm in the shower. The only criticism I have of the 2570 is that the integral stops do not always line up in the correct position, so be cautious. While this is a drawback, I do not believe it is significant enough to prevent me from rating this valve 5 stars. If you're installing this in a home shower, you might want to get one without stops to save money. This is a solder-in valve, by the way. It can be difficult to solder copper to brass. If you're not a professional plumber, you should hire one at the very least.

The separate on/off valves for the hot and cold inlets is a nice touch, and it's made by Moen, so it'll last. My only criticism is that the instructions do not specify the depth at which it should be installed. The correct depth is where the valve's metal housing meets your wall. When I tiled my shower and installed this, it was too far into the wall, so I had to purchase a moen extension kit. The kit was $20 and simple to put together, but I could have easily made it shallower if the instructions had been more specific about the depth.

br>br>Because the water supply lines come in from one side, my installation was a little difficult; the hot water supply had to go around the line going from the valve to the shower and then turn 180 degrees to line up with the valve. I was so focused on getting everything lined up and checking for leaks (all sweat joints) that I forgot to sweat the shower line, which was a mistake because there was water in the valve that wouldn't drain out because I checked for leaks. Because there was water in the valve, the sweat joint to the shower head didn't seal 100%. I was able to disassemble the leaking joint, replace it with a new piece of cooper line, and heat it until no steam came out of any of the valve openings. So, if you're going to sweat it out in this valve, make sure you finish all of the connections before checking for leaks. Before installing the cartridge and checking the shower connection, use the stops on the 2570 valve to check for leaks.

This was purchased for the Moen T2131 Eva Posi-Moen T2131 Eva PosiMoen T2131 Eva PosiMoen The recommended valve, as listed on the Moen T2131 page, was the Temp Valve Trim Kit without Valve. NOT. It's a tub and shower valve, not just a shower valve. It's also obsolete. Our contractor had to go to the store to get parts to block off the tub part, which isn't an excuse when you're paying that much. It was a huge let down.

This item was purchased for use in a bathroom renovation. The hot water wouldn't turn on, and our plumber couldn't figure out why. After hours of trying, the plumber went out and bought a new valve stem, which he installed and got to work. This is something I would not buy on Amazon. Moen is a company that sells defective products. If you need to return a part in the middle of your project, try to find it locally. Now I'm out an extra $55, but at least I have a new shower with hot water.

Until we began planning our major bathroom renovation, I had no idea about these temperature control mixing valve systems. To avoid accidental burns from full-flush toilets, the new plumbing code mandates temperature limit control. a pot of boiling water The rough-and-ready The Posi-Valve is used in conjunction with the Posi-Valve, which must be purchased separately. This rough-in kit, as well as the temperature valve trim kit, Stops are included in the valve. Stops allow the hot and/or cold water feeds to be turned off so that the cartridge can be replaced without shutting down the water supply further upstream or throughout the house. The stops work as expected now that I've installed the trim kit and had to turn off the water to make an installation correction. br>br>I purchased a sweatshirt. on valve (which also comes with a screw) and had it installed by the plumber who did our rough-in. in work. Following that, I set the temperature limit according to the instructions that came with the trim kit. There have been no issues, and I am very pleased with the overall system. Temperature control is excellent without the risk of overheating.
