Beware. The measurements given in the instructions are incorrect. This shower valve, unlike others, is designed to be mounted on the shower wall. It lacks well-placed mounting holes for securely attaching it to the framing without also attaching it to the wall. These holes are clearly spaced at 4 in. in the instructions. 5" in diameter, with a hole drilled at a depth of 4. 0". As a result, I use my 4 to drill. I drilled a 0" hole and was surprised to discover that the screw holes fit perfectly within it. The screw holes are, in fact, spaced at a factor of three. 5". Poor instructions are nothing new to me, especially when it comes to obscure items. However, this is the most popular bath/shower valve from Kohler. It's one of the most popular items on the site. It irritates me that these instructions are given in this manner. I anticipate a response from you, Kohler.

There were no problems with the purchase or the shipping. That said, Kohler is a brand I intend to avoid purchasing in the future because the compatible trim kits for this valve are very poorly designed, lacking internal structures (support) to prevent inevitable leaking, and their customer service could be less helpful, but that would be too much effort. Do your research and purchase another brand; you'll pay significantly less and have far more options in terms of quality trim kits. If you don't want to demo the wall to remove this gem, you'll be stuck with Kohler tub/shower trim kits.

This was used as part of a complete bathroom renovation. Valve is a fantastic system. There are no temperature fluctuations during the operation. Kohler currently has the best bath hardware on the market. I used to have Moen faucets, but they've started using a lot of plastic in their parts recently. The more plastic there is in a product, the more likely it is to break down over time.

One thing to keep in mind is that the dimensions in the directions don't account for different stud depths, so if you're installing for a thin wall scenario like a direct to stud shower stall, you'll want to mount the valve to a 3/4" thick backing board inside a 2x4 wall.

This valve was purchased from Amazon because it was suggested for use with the Kohler Bancroft shower head and faucet. I contacted Kohler about missing pieces in the package, and they sent me one, but I didn't realize there were others missing. Kohler is a difficult company to work with, but thankfully, my plumber was able to resolve the issue. Before you begin, double-check that your package contains all of the necessary components.

This is the solution if you've ever taken a shower and had the temperature of the water change dramatically due to the activity of dishwashers, washing machines, icemakers, or toilet flushing. If either the hot or cold water pressures suddenly drop, the water temperature will only change by a few degrees. It performs admirably.

We purchased this valve body, along with many other Kohler bathroom and kitchen fixtures, for a remodel. This item had a flaw that made it impossible for hot water to flow properly through the valve. We replaced it with the exact same item, and we haven't had any issues since.
