I had the same problem when I first put it in; it seemed loose and would spin. So I kept tightening it until it wasn't loose any longer. For the most part, it appeared that I was overtightening it, but it accepted the extra force and has remained stationary since.
No, open one door and shut the other one.
No, a diverter valve cannot be used to stop the flow of water. Please look up B00W8V6NHI and B013OSM9T4 on Amazon's home page to see if they meet your requirements. Thank you very much.
It's between the shower arm and the shower head, not between the shower arm and the shower head. The hose connects directly to this piece, forming a tee that allows water to flow through either one. It is difficult for water to flow in both directions at the same time in this configuration.

I'm a plumber who works a lot. From running new water lines to installing new fixtures, I take care of all of our home and pool repairs. As a result, I've had some practice keeping things from leaking (just saying, water is one of those pesky things that can drive you insane). Our diverter arrived quickly after ordering and appears to be of good quality, but it leaks between the main diverter and where the threads screw into the shower (that connection turns and should tighten down to form a tight seal against the water supply coming in, and while it doesn't leak or spray water from the thread connection, it does dribble where the gold colored "band" in the product photo). It's not bad, and we decided to keep using it rather than try to replace it because we didn't have time to wait because we had a handicapped relative visiting who needed to shower. I believe there would not have been a problem if the piece was solid and the threaded part did not rotate. The setup was as simple as one might expect; Apply thread tape to the washers, then hand tighten (do not over-tighten). Tighten fixtures like this (if your hands are weak, use a wrench and a soft cloth between the part and the wrench to tighten another quarter turn). br>br>Aside from that, I think the diverter is one of the better pieces I've seen. The component is made of metal and has a substantial weight to it. It's not the light-heartedness that's the issue; it's the responsibility. Shower and bath fixtures that are light in weight, mostly plastic or very thin metal, appear to be all that I can find locally. Furthermore, I was unable to locate a diverter in bronze that would perform the same function as this one. Even though the bronze tones are more expensive, I prefer them; the finish is pleasing to the eye and complements my existing fixture nicely. br>br>Like other reviewers, I used extra washers to ensure that the diverter seated properly for all connected parts. The water flow does not appear to be as good as with just a shower head, even when the diverter is fully open to the main shower head or the hand-held, but we do get a reasonable flow and when the diverter is set to allow water from both shower heads, pressure is maintained to both. br>br>The package arrived in a padded envelope, which was fortunate because it had been tossed around in the mail and the parts were loose within the envelope. It would have been preferable if I had taped the diverters box shut after what appeared to be adding washers, but the padded envelope saved the day, and my diverter was unharmed. br>br>In conclusion, I would purchase this product again. My Grandmother was overjoyed to have a fantastic shower with both overhead and hand-held water. The minor leak only dribbles water and does not harm anything, so I'm not fussing over what is otherwise a fantastic product. The seller sent me an email asking if I was satisfied with my purchase and inviting me to contact them if I wasn't. Even though I didn't ask for help, I appreciated it greatly.
The diverter has some weight to it, and it's made of metal rather than plastic, so I expect it to last. br>The only drawback is the Teflon tape that came with it - I'm not sure how long it'll last. It was a complete waste because it was stretched out on the spool to the width of fishing line, which will not help seal the connections. As a result, make sure you have some of your own.
The problem is that the valve swiveled where it attached to the shower pipe, which meant that when we added the plastic Delta handheld shower head, the weight of it turned the valve downward, which I didn't like.
Even though I tightened everything up as much as I could, the leak continued. I simply removed it and tossed it in the trash.
Our old diverter finally gave up the ghost after 12 years of service. I purchased this replacement diverter and am extremely pleased with its quality and functionality. To protect the threads before assembly, a small roll of Teflon tape was included. Even the weight of the piece demonstrates its high quality. It has an excellent finish and performs admirably.
The faucet started to leak from the faucet while I was using the hand held shower head, so I needed to replace it. However, it worked flawlessly for over three years!.
This thing looks nice, feels solid, and is heavy, but it leaks a lot. That's a load of nonsense. When you try to save a few dollars, you end up with something like this.
This was relatively simple to set up. I can finally use the hand-held shower head that I received to help with my broken foot.
