It came in a package from China, if I remember correctly. Except for the gaskets, it's made entirely of metal and functions admirably. I had a slow leak from the main pipe, but once I installed this, the leak was completely stopped. For the past six months, I've had this screwed into the main pipe coming from the wall with a handheld shower head attached to the front end with no problems.

If it's made of standard materials and construction. It shouldn't rust, so don't worry about that.
Yes, it's the same thing. It's on handheld shower heads that I use it on.

We frequently use our shower to give our puppies a shower/bath after they come in from playing in the mud/slush outside, and we control the water flow with the shower on/off handle. It was all too easy to take my hands off the shower head and spray the entire bathroom, including myself. The end of the hose, next to the showerhead, was where we installed this valve. The large sliding lever on this control valve moves very smoothly. I was debating whether or not to purchase a push-button alarm clock. I could have done it with a button, but I'm glad I went with this option. My husband, like me, suffers from arthritis and has big hands. He bathed the puppies the other night and was blown away by how simple it was to use the shut-in. valve is shut down.
This valve was purchased to control a rain showerhead with so many jets that it feels like you're standing under a waterfall rather than raining. It is in no way a negative thing. It feels great, but it'll take about 15 minutes to drain the hot water from the heater. It used to take about 45 minutes to clean our low-flow head. So we purchased this in order to reduce the amount of water flowing through the faucet. It does become a little louder as the flow is slowed, but this isn't really a disadvantage because it completely shuts off the water and doesn't leak. My only complaint is that water leaks when the flow leaves the area where the level moves (no matter what level it is at). It's perplexing. I double-checked the internal threaded section to make sure it was tight and stable. It doesn't work if I turn on the water and turn off the flow. The fact that water drips from the side of the showerhead when it is turned on irritates me. I'll try to figure out what's going on when I have more time.
I bought this item because it claimed to have a Total Shut Off feature that would prevent a showerhead from dripping after the faucets were turned off. That's precisely what it does. It's also great for conserving water by turning off the spray while lathering, allowing the temperature to stay consistent without having to re-heat the water. the faucets should be adjusted.
I intended to use this to turn off the water to a shower head that was dripping slightly. So it's no longer dripping from my head. The shut-off lever is now just dripping with water. It appears that it does not meet my requirements. Despite this, the product appears to be well-made and of high quality. Lever has a solid feel to it and isn't flimsy. I still think this is a fantastic product that is well worth purchasing; it just didn't fit my needs.
The valve is very smooth to operate and does not leak. This is ideal for anyone who enjoys taking "navy showers" (getting wet, turning off the water, soaping up, and rinsing off). It can also be used to control the flow of water to a degree. When it's set to very low flow, you'll hear some noise from the turbulent water flow, but it's not bothersome.
This cutoff valve allows you to turn off the shower while maintaining the hot/cold water mix set on the wall faucets. This is ideal for a hand-held shower that needs to be turned off while you soap up. You can take a "Navy" shower if you want to save water. The water hose attaches to it and is screwed into the end of the shower handle.
I bought one for my mother because she is elderly and uses a shower chair, so she doesn't have to keep standing up and down to turn on the shower. I was so taken with it that I purchased two more for my home. It's easy to set up and it works well. When closed, there is a slight flow to remind you that the shower is running so you don't forget and the hose bursts, flooding your home.
This was purchased to control and restrict the flow of my hand-held shower. The one built into the shower head is ineffective and never completely shuts off the water flow. This is a fantastic method. The switch is simple to operate and well constructed. It's also very simple to set up.
