I used the documents that came with the trim kit (American Standard TU075500) to do some research. Colony PRO Valve Only Trim Kit with Cartridge, Brushed Nickel (295 Colony PRO Valve Only Trim Kit with Cartridge, Brushed Nickel (295 Colony PRO Valve Only Trim Kit with Cartridge, Brushed Nickel found The part number for the trim kit is M970640-, according to the instructions. M970410-0070A or M970410-0070A-0070A-0070A-00 0070A. I looked on Amazon but was unable to locate it. I found it at last - Part M954803 is printed on the package of the valve cartridge. This information is available on both the vendor's website and online auction sites: ) At the time of writing this review, I couldn't find it on Amazon. br>br>The M954803 valve I purchased is in excellent working condition. I'm hoping this will be of use to others, as the documentation appears to be lacking. br>br>The valve's quality is excellent - There is no "wiggle" at the stop, and moving the valve is very nice and snug. It appeals to me greatly.
The description on Amazon that this RU107ESS version is for cold expansion pex is incorrect--it is for hot expansion pex. The ru107ess is a pex crimp system, according to the American Standard website. Product of excellent quality-- I used it in conjunction with the TU385500. Kit 002 (valve and trim). The trim kit's handle is made of solid brass, and turning the valve is a breeze. In most of my projects, I've begun to use American Standard. It appears to be one of the few remaining manufacturers who produce high-quality goods. PS: If you're looking for a bathroom sink faucet, consider the following options: American Standard 7385 is what I've used in the past. For years, 002 has served as a reliable bathroom faucet- yet another top-notch item-- Drain is unique in that it works with a cable system rather than a valve. which is convenient for me and quick to install in new installations.
While doing a full remodel with new water lines, I was able to acquire this unit. I couldn't find any information about the cartridge. When I called American Standard, they put me in touch with a plumber who wanted to charge me to come out and install it. I already knew how to put it together, but I ended up spending $100 at Home Depot for a complete unit that included this piece, a shower head, and a tub faucet. There will be a lot fewer headaches if you go this route. I'm now stuck with something I don't want.
As a remodeling contractor, I've purchased a large number of shower valves and trim kits. There is no cartridge with this valve. The trimming was done by Nether. It took a long time to find, and I'm hoping to get it soon (the cartridge was a month late from AmericanStandard). I've never seen a valve that didn't come with a cartridge.
One of the valves had been damaged to the point where it could no longer screw into the connector. Amazon did send me a replacement, but by that time I had discovered that the shower handle trim kit, which was also from American Standard, had been damaged. Although the trim kit and this valve were purchased separately, they must be used together. I ended up going to Lowes and purchasing a new Moen shower handle trim kit with valve, which is exactly what I should have done in the first place. American Standard sells substandard products that aren't apparent until you try to install them.
I returned the first one and received a replacement with corrosion on the 90-degree elbow as well. Now I'm torn between dealing with the return and installing this behind a shower wall and hoping for the best. br>br>I attempted to contact American Standard customer service but was unable to speak with anyone after waiting on the line.
The valve works well, but the stops aren't up to par. When the service stops are closed, water is slowly let in. This is enough time to flush the lines or even replace the cartridge, but not enough time to work on a remodel with just the stops. For long-term use, you can either cap the nipples or use a cartridge.
Great valve for do-it-yourself installations, and the pex connections are fantastic! A screw-on collar, rather than several screws and a tension plate, makes it simple to change the valve.
