Is this something that can be used in the outdoors?

It might work, but it won't keep you warm in the winter. So, if you're in a protected area or south of the equator, use this formula: I was just inside the garage door when I mounted.

Is there a sweat connection on the 1/2" side?

Female threading on the 1/2" side. To connect to a 1/2" outer threaded pipe, the threads are on the inside.

Is there a lot of flow? This valve's port is extremely small, limiting flow

Although it may be suitable for most applications, I purchased it because the description claims a "large flow area," which is untrue.

br>It is well designed and constructed with high-quality materials. br>I anticipate this hose bib lasting a long time. br>It was very simple to set up. Simply use Teflon tape to secure it to a 1/2" male threaded pipe, then use two mounting screws to secure it. br>After installing one in our boat's cockpit for the wash down outlet, I ordered three more to replace the rest of the hose bibs.

Mount it flush with the wall

The fact that the hose bib could be screwed into the wall was appealing. For a pool faucet, the flange was ideal. It would have been even better if the unit had been 1/2" longer to allow for hose access and more hand space.

On a half-inch fitting, this is about as good as it gets

This item appeals to me because the handle is not as long and vulnerable, and it is bolted directly to the bulkhead, making it less vulnerable to hose yank damage. The parts are well-cast and machined. I don't see why this can't go on for a long time. You did an excellent job!.

It's fantastic to turn 1/4 turn

I used a gate valve to replace a standard spigot, and I really like the 1/4 turn valve. It was super easy to install and appears to be of high quality. No more turning 5 times to get full water pressure, just a simple twist.
