My wife had been expressing her dissatisfaction with our two-bedroom apartment. I'd been putting off fixing the sided sink for years, and it was finally time. We wanted a farmhouse sink at first, but we knew it would be a lot more expensive than we anticipated. It would necessitate removing the granite front and possibly reshaping the cabinet to make room for it. I made a phone call and had a representative from the original cabinet company come out and give me a quote. He appeared concerned that installing a new sink might damage the granite and cabinets. In any case, I waited for a quote. I hadn't heard from him in three weeks, so I decided to file this one under MYSELF. The old sink, as I previously stated, was a double-basin design. sided one (Elkay brand) that was listed for over a thousand dollars, current price (I have no idea why and can't believe our builder made us pay that much for it). This sink is EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a sink. It's deep and wide, and we're completely content with it. It also has a mirrored satin finish, which is similar to that of many high-end sinks. I'm glad I did it myself because installing the epoxy clamps, ripping out the old sink, and rearranging the plumbing took some time. I'm sure I could have easily saved $500. The installation fee is $1,000. Before deciding on this sink, I read a lot of reviews. Because I had heard that it scratched easily, I took extra precautions when installing it. I put the rack in it and it works great; I'll try to avoid scratches if I can, but to be honest, every stainless steel sink scratches. Over time, all of the scratches will blend together and become less visible. You may believe that by spending $1000 on a new sink, it will be less likely to scratch. This is not the case. Anyway, I was concerned that food would become stuck beneath the rack and be difficult to remove, but this was not the case. Simply turn on your faucet's sprayer (hopefully you have one) and the food will rinse right out (use the rack to avoid scratches). This sink arrived in excellent condition, with plenty of extras, including clamps to keep it in place. The catch was that these clamps required drilling and anchoring into the granite. That was not my choice. I purchased the EZ clips from Amazon and used the PC-based software to create the project. To mount them, you'll need seven different kinds of epoxy. I used three clips on each side and four in the back (the set includes ten clips). I didn't use any for the front because I had wood slats from the previous sink that I could use to secure the front. I have no complaints, and I am aware that this sink is well-supported. PC- 7 is excellent, and it dries to the consistency of cement and will not come off after 24 hours. Because the bracket or stud portion of the Kraus sink clip worked better than the stud from the EZ clips, I simply used the EZ clip mounting base and the Kraus studs from their clips to hold the sink up. This is a sink that I would HIGHLY recommend! You will save a significant amount of money, and the quality is excellent. It's not cheaply made, as it's made of 16GA stainless steel and is quite heavy. It's as good as any sink that costs $1,000. I couldn't be more pleased. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you decide to purchase this sink. I'm writing this review because I've found that reviews have greatly aided me in my purchasing decisions, and I'd like to do the same for you! I just wanted to give you an update; it's been a month since I installed this sink, and I absolutely love it, and there hasn't been a single scratch. To clean it, I simply remove the rack and wipe it down with the sponge side of a scouring pad. Simply put a few drops of dawn soap in the bottom and wipe it clean with the sponge. If you rinse out the food every time you wash the dishes, you won't get it dirty in the first place, but I do it every 3 or 4 days and it works great. The rack is also fantastic; I adore it (and recommend that you make use of it). Having said that, there was one thing I did change, and it had nothing to do with the sink. I replaced the baffle (the rubber drain piece) on my Insinkerator garbage disposal because it was clogging up the sink and you had to use your hand and a sponge to push the food particles through the baffle to get it to drain properly. (Whoever designed this baffle at Insinkerator should be fired. ) I quickly searched Amazon for a replacement baffle that would work better and FOUND ONE. Everything is now in perfect working order, and the sink drains like a pro. Here's the puzzle I got (you can find it on Amazon if you search for it): RSB InSinkErator 00 08302D Iron Removable Sound Baffle When you see other people on here complaining about their sinks not draining properly, it's most likely because they, too, have an insinkerator baffle that needs to be replaced. Everything now appeals to me. br>br>1/6/20 Update - I'm still blown away by this sink. It's been almost a year since I put it in. I've washed dishes in it hundreds of times and there isn't a scratch on it yet. However, because it's so large, I take care not to bang dishes against the sides when placing them in it. It still looks like the day I put it up. If you don't want your clothes to get scratched, simply USE THE RACK and every 3-minutes. Pull the rack out after 4 days and scrub with the sponge side of a scouring pad and some dawn dish soap. You will not get scratches if you do this. The only area of minor wear is where the rack's feet come into contact with the sink, but who cares, these marks aren't visible when the rack is in place. When it comes to rinsing food off of dishes, the rack is extremely useful. The food scraps go under the rack so that when you put your dishes down to scrub them, the food you've already scrubbed off stays off. When you're finished with all of the dishes, simply rinse the food scraps and toss them into the garbage disposal. br>br>Feb. 2018 Update 2021 - The sink looks exactly the same as it did the day I put it in. There are still no scratches, only minor rub marks where the rack's feet make contact with the sink's bottom, but this is unimportant because you never see this with the rack.

Because I work as a builder, I consider myself to have a good understanding of sink value and quality. This sink has only added to my admiration for it. We decided to take a chance on this sink because of the good reviews and specs after our kitchen remodel went over its $40k budget due to some unforeseen additional issues. We had to try to make our money count without ruining the end goal, so we decided to take a chance on it because of the good reviews and specs. I've flipped a number of homes, ranging in price from low to high, and I'm well aware that gauge and sound deadening are important considerations for me. This sink is as good as the $1000 sinks we were looking at and even with my 30% contractor discount this sink was way less expensive than the $1000 sinks we were Some people have complained that it scratches easily; to that, I can only say that I've never seen a stainless sink that doesn't scratch. If you clean in the direction of the metal grain, it should last a long time. Check out the photos to see what kind of kitchen this was installed in.

  Scratches easily due to poor quality! The sponge can't be used on its hard side! It's a complete waste of money.

The only drawback is that it appears to be prone to scratching, but the grate will greatly assist in this regard. This sink's sound deadening is also fantastic! For a stainless steel sink, there is almost no noise at all, which is impressive. br>The main reason I bought this sink was because it was the only one of this size that was reviewed to fit into an IKEA sink cabinet that was 30 inches wide. The rest of the sinks had a basin width of no more than 26 inches. So, here's my in-depth look at this sink. First and foremost, I adore the sink and the way it complements my new granite counter. I gave it three stars because the description could use a lot more detail. It was a whole different ballgame when it came to installing my new faucet and garbage disposal. The drain that came in from outside was too high when the garbage disposal was connected. Nothing was going to go away. GRRRRRR. So. The drain would need to be lowered, according to the plumber. Mr. Plumber, please close the drain. (I did not construct the house. ) Mr. Plumber cut out the back of the cabinet to inspect the drain system. Either it would come directly from the ground, or it would be the unthinkable. It was the unthinkable, to be sure. Around the house, the drain line ran horizontally. Without major plumbing work, there was no way to lower the drain. As a result, I won't be able to dispose of my trash. The sink will run dry if you don't use the disposal. So, if you're remodeling, make sure your plumbing drain is low enough to allow for proper drainage when your disposal is installed.
