Questions & Answers

Would it be practical to mount one of these on a toilet, or would soggy paper clog it?

If you're going to attach it to your toilet, make sure to tear the toilet paper into small pieces to keep it from clogging. Warning: Please don't put corn or nuts in this Erator. Before turning on the Erator, make sure it's free of corn and nuts.

Will it fit into my old InSinkErator's existing mounting assembly, or will I have to replace it with the new unit's mounting assembly?

Even though I didn't have to, I changed the mounting assembly. Either option would have been suitable. I had a brand new sink with an extremely old garbage disposal. I'm barely qualified to change a light bulb, but it was a simple task for me. The old plug, gaskets, clamps, and pipes connected to the new unit without a hitch using only screwdrivers, pliers, and the wrench that came with the unit.

Is there anything else I'll need to get this product up and running? The power cord and dishwasher connector are both familiar to me. Is there any kind of start button I'll need? Is it 220 volts or 110 volts? Please accept my sincere thanks. ?

To turn the unit on and off, you'll need a switch. A switch that attaches to the unit is available from InSinkErator, or you can install a 110v wall switch.

After only one month, the metal has begun to rust
3/5

PROS: Powerful. It is relatively simple to set up. The unit has a nice appearance. Quiet. The splash shield can easily be removed for cleaning. Each time you turn it on, the direction reverses. If it jams, it will go backwards automatically. CONS: br>br> I can already see rust on and around the cutting blades after only a month. br>br>Because my old Insinkerator Badger was rusted and leaking, I purchased a new disposal. After only one month, there is already a small amount of rust on and around the cutting blades, so I decided to spend a lot more money and buy something that would last. br>br>When I told InSinkErator about the rust, they said it was "cosmetic" and not a problem. They went on to explain how the blades are kept in a moist environment and never get a chance to dry completely. OK. That is something I understand. Isn't there an alloy that won't rust in these conditions that they could have used instead? br>br>I can see how a $59 garbage disposal would be appealing. It's possible that a 95 will rust, but should I be seeing rust on a car that costs five times as much? Perhaps, unlike my old product, this one will not rust through and leak after seven years. For $300, however. 00, I don't believe there should be any rust on the vehicle. Is it reasonable for me to have such a high expectation? br>br>I have a stainless steel sink in my kitchen. In addition, the interior of my dishwasher is stainless steel. My washing machine also has a stainless steel tub. All of these things come into contact with water on a regular basis. Despite this, I haven't seen a speck of rust on any of them after several years of use. br>br>As I previously stated, InSinkErator considers my disposal's rust to be "cosmetic. " As a result, they are refusing to take any action at this time. To put it another way, for rust to be a warranty issue, the disposal must completely rust through and begin to leak (or stop working). Wow. After spending $300, that gives me a lot of "peace of mind. " For a garbage disposal, you'll have to fork out $0. 00. br>br>The time limit for returning this item has expired for me. So I'm stuck with it for the time being. Is the rust going to get worse? I'm not sure what I'm saying. But there is one thing I am certain of right now. It will not be an InSinkErator garbage disposal when it is time to replace it.

Caution! InskinkErator offers two different versions of the same product
5/5

0HP unit. Ensure that you purchase the Excel model. I bought it at Lowe's because I needed it for an installation the next morning. When purchasing an InSinkErator from Lowe's, a word of caution is in order. For "Lowe's only" sales, InSinkErator is rebranding the Excel as the Prestige at the same price as the Excel. I contacted InSinkErator customer service and inquired about the differences. They stated that the Excel will continue to be their top-of-the-line disposal unit, with the only significant difference being the Prestige's lack of a jam sensor. Unfortunately, their website does not make this information clear. Lowe's honored Amazon's price when I bought one of the last remaining Excel units. br>br>It appears that Home Depot is doing the same thing with the Evolution Supreme SS. br>br>To be clear, this is a list of what is missing from the Prestige:br>br> Jam- The Jam-BusterTMbr>Sensor CircuitTMbr>The Jam-BusterTMbr> Sensor Circuit detects imminent jams and engages, increasing rotational torque by 500% while pulsing 60 times per second. It also has a powerful hammering effect that allows it to break through the toughest jams before you even realize there is a problem. br>br>I highly recommend the InSinkErator Excel unit because it is quiet and is known as the "black hole" of home waste disposal units. Because of the lack of features for the same price as the Excel, I do not recommend purchasing the Prestige unit.

I hope your new unit isn't defective; it's supposed to be a great product, and it only worked for a week out of the box
3/5

br>br>After several customer service calls, Insinkerator simply gave me a phone number and walked away. br>br>At the moment, I'm dealing with a local repair service that won't schedule appointments until they've spoken with Insinkerator about getting a replacement. br>br>I'll be without a garbage disposal for at least a month, and I'm afraid I'll be hit with a bill. br>br>Each and every one of them. For. The product is brand new. That's the product. Is. ***Update 1**
