In place of an old 1/3 HP Badger, I have installed this 1 HP model. The old unit was noisy and took longer to chew up food. It is much better than the old one. Install was relatively easy since all the Insinkerator models use the same connections. The only problem I had was that the unit was a bit heavy to lift into place in the space under the sink, so I propped it up to make sure that it was at The plastic shield came free during this process, so it was very difficult to fit it back in. We had a Badger 5 before this one, but it was considerably louder. Despite being affordable, the price is still very high.
