Questions & Answers

Do you mean clockwise or cold water when you say CW?

The GP77005- is a GP77005- compatible device. The hot water cartridge is designated by the letter RP. The GP77006- is a GP77006-compatible device. The cold water cartridge is designated by the letter RP. As a result, the hot water cartridge needs to be replaced. Clockwise is denoted by the letter CW.

Hello, I have solid brass Kohler faucets with a small riser and square knobs, but I can't seem to find the model number. I'm attempting to determine whether or not these valves will function properly. I'd appreciate any assistance. Thanks?

If you can find your faucet model online somewhere with the model number (assuming it's still made, perhaps Kohler's website), you can see if Kohler has the parts diagram to identify the part number. If yours isn't a quarter turn from off to full on, this won't work, according to the other answer to this question.

Is this the same as kohler's gp77005-? kohler cw valve kit rp rp kohler cw valve kit rp kohler cw The cw is missing from this one, which is labeled "hot ceramic." ?

Number designations are a mystery to me. I figured out that the hot side turns C ounter C lock W ise, and the cold side turns C lock W ise.

How do I know whether it's for hot or cold?

Closed in a clockwise direction is hot, and closed in a counterclockwise direction is cold.

It's fantastic - It's possible that the installation will require some extra 'oomph' - DeWalt comes to the rescue once again
5/5

The valve is in excellent condition and fits perfectly. Using standard hand tools, however, removing the old ones is difficult, if not impossible. The issue is that the entire valve body rotates, putting the feed lines and other components at risk of being broken. br>br>I've heard that removing the entire valve from the cabinet is the best way to get this out. I didn't want to do that, so I got my DeWalt 20V impact gun and a 13MM deep socket out. I grabbed the threaded portion of the valve beneath the cabinet to keep it steady, and with a few short bursts, these came out cleanly. br>br>This saved me a lot of time and effort; just use your regular wrench and don't overtighten them when installing the new ones. I greased the threads with plumber's grease in the hopes that the next person who does this job will find it easier.

If it's something I'm capable of
5/5

I'm a woman in my late sixties who is 67 years old. The spout of my faucet was dripping. I've lived here for 18 years, so I ordered the entire assembly after reading reviews about not being able to remove the old spout. Because I couldn't remove the nut holding the sink assembly together, I had to remove the faucet skirt (which I had to do with the help of a belt strap). There was no corrosion on the valve. It was a breeze! I purchased this valve and installed it. The result is that there is no longer any dripping.

Stops leaks from happening
5/5

It was extremely simple to set up. If your Kohler faucet is leaking, it's likely that the valve has worn out. This one was made to fit my Kohler faucet perfectly. My leak was fixed after an installation. br>br>Here are a few pointers: br>1) It may be difficult to tell if this is the correct part for your Kohler faucet. You might want to start by removing the old/leaky part and visually inspecting/confirming with the image. br>2) This valve has a 1/4 turn. As a result, the left and right are not synonymous. Make sure you order the right part (left for hot, right for cold). br>3) This part can be replaced by a single person, but two people make it easier. The part will emerge from the top, but you may notice that as you loosen (or tighten) this part, the entire faucet handle turns with you. A second person holding the faucet handle from the bottom would be extremely helpful at this point. br>br>Once you've figured out how to remove the part, it'll only take you 5 minutes to complete the project. I'm really happy with the result. The handle also turns very smoothly, just like it did when it was new, which is an added bonus.

This was to replace the hot water valve for Kohler faucet K454-A
5/5

It was perfect for replacing the leaky valve on the hot side of my old faucet. It was a perfect match, and it came with the black spline for attaching the stem extender (87466) at the top. My faucet was severely crusted over, and it took some PB B'laster penetrant and patience to loosen the gunk. I was too weak to remove it with a ratchet wrench and required the assistance of a more powerful individual. The old valve, thankfully, was taken out. If the valve cartridge cannot be removed, you will need to purchase a valve and casing assembly (Ultraglide) from a different model. Hopefully, like me, you'll be fortunate enough to be able to save the old parts. br>br>For two handles, I couldn't get rid of the old stem extender, and another had an ill-fitting stem extender. stem extender that is appropriate So, to go with the new valves, I purchased new stem extenders. If you bought the valve for the wrong side, you can change the orientation by removing the clip. br>br>Best of luck with the leaky faucet repair.

The hot water leak at the faucet handle was repaired at a reasonable price
5/5

The part itself is of good quality and came at a reasonable price; it was less expensive than at a big box store, and ordering it on Amazon saved me a trip. Depending on the age of your faucet, installation should be straightforward. I had a difficult time simply because we have a 15-year-old faucet that I couldn't get the old valve off, even after soaking it in PB blaster for a few hours; I had to remove the entire brass valve body because I had to use a lot of force to get it out, and even then I nearly damaged the valve body. It would have only taken 20 minutes to fix if it hadn't been for that.

As mentioned in previous reviews, it works on both hot and cold sides
5/5

Remove the spring clip and rotate the brass stop piece 90 degrees to use the side valve cartridge on the cold side. The valve innards do not need to be removed; simply rotate the separate brass piece and reattach the clip. It appears that the valve is a genuine Kohler. The older valve cartridges were difficult to remove from the larger main faucet bodies. I had hoped to remove them from the top without dismantling the sink plumbing, but I was unsuccessful; perhaps you'll have better luck than I did. If not, clamp the faucet body in a vise with a hex socket (clamping across the two flats at the threaded portion's bottom). There's no need to order the plastic spline adapters separately because the valve cartridges include them.

My faucet is now working again
5/5

My Kohler faucet's hot and cold water valves were both replaced (note that the cold water uses a different valve due to the direction of the turn). We didn't know what model of faucet we had because we had just moved in, but we were able to find it on Kohler's website, and the leaks were stopped. In the center spout, an O ring that was leaking a little was also replaced. I'm hoping this is a cheap fix that will keep me going for years.
