For my Glacier Bay shower faucet, it worked perfectly. For those who are still experiencing low hot water pressure after replacing this, here is a suggestion. I still had very little hot water pressure after replacing the cartridge. So I discovered screw-in shutoff valves on the brass shower valve in the wall. On each side, there will be one slotted for turning with a flathead screwdriver. Each one was tightened and then loosened until it reached its stop point. When I tightened the cold water valve, it was smooth; however, when I tightened the hot water valve, it was rough because it was breaking scale up in the valve. Then I turned it counterclockwise, which went smoothly. After that, I turned on the shower and noticed that the hot side had excellent pressure!br> That scale was the source of my low pressure. I hope this information is useful to someone who is having a similar issue. br>I had turned off the water to the entire house in order to change the cartridge, not realizing that those small valves are all you need to turn it off at the shower. Some brands lack these shutoffs; fortunately, Glacier Bay does. A photo of the shutoff valves is attached.
" However, by purchasing this part rather than having my plumber do it, I was able to save money. This part worked in my circa 2015 Glacier Bay / Home Depot Sshower faucet, and it was promised to arrive by Friday, and it arrived by 3pm with Prime. I'm having to return or eat the cost of the previous Danco part because 10321 didn't work for me; perhaps it's more of a sink faucet part because I bought the model without the long needle/nose or whatever you want to call the post sticking out to connect under the faucet handle. I wish I had realized I needed this part with the same long needle from the start by looking at my old cartridge. This wasn't available at Home Depot, despite the fact that it's a replacement for their Glacier Bay brand, and Lowe's didn't have it either, so if you know what you're looking for, Amazon is a great place to go. I was able to avoid placing a costly specialty order because of this. If we couldn't get the part before this guy showed up, the plumber was even talking about ripping out tile, wow!.
This was an exact replacement cartridge for my Glacier Bay Model 12872 (Home Depot) in my application. If you're not sure what your faucet's model number is, look inside the wall plate that covers it. Glacier Bay put a small label on mine (circa 2010ish). Only the numbers 12872 are printed on the small label. If that helps break the code, there was also a second label inside the cover that said Global Union Model F1AA4535BNV. The identifier"HL-" was also present on both the old and new cartridges. On it, there is a 40" mark. Bottom line: This cartridge was a perfect match for my Glacier Bay Model 12872 shower faucet, which had stopped delivering hot water prior to the repair. Everything is now in working order. This is a simple and low-cost DIY fix.
For my ten-year-old son, this is the perfect replacement. year- As described, this is an old glacier bay shower faucet cartridge. Only basic tools (philips head screwdriver, water pump pliers, and allen wrench) are required for installation. The cartridge did come partially disassembled, which is the only drawback. It's not difficult to figure out because there's only one correct way to put the parts together, but if you're unfamiliar with these units (like me), it might take some time. the act of scratching I installed it after inverting a part of the assembly, turned on the water, and the hot came out first (COLD should always come out first). So I dismantled it again, found the problem, and reassembled and reinstalled it; it now works flawlessly. The important thing to remember is that it is technically possible to put it together incorrectly, so be careful. The handle should move smoothly after installation, not with a "clicky" movement like mine did at first. Calling a plumber is a lot more expensive.
I was getting the house ready for a renter, tried to repair it, took it apart, and my old one came apart in a bunch of pieces, so I turned off the water. And I went to Home Depot, Lowe's, and Ace Hardware, and none of them had it, not even close. So I went to Amazon and found it, and it was available the next day! Wow, you saved the entire weekend; one of the best situations arrived in a matter of hours and was repaired in minutes.
The most impressive aspect was the speed with which I received the item, three days (I live in Alaska). I'm blown away by what I've seen so far. Anyway, installing the cartridge was a breeze (just make sure the water is turned off first). ) Cartridge was a great buy because it saved me hundreds of dollars by preventing me from having to hire a plumber to come out and diagnose the problem and charge me an arm and a leg. Everything is back to normal after only 5 minutes of installation.
For almost a year, they have always worked perfectly. THEN it begins to have pressure and mixture issues. There is no happy medium; it's either too hot or too cold, and the pressure gradually decreases to a discernible difference over time. Then it comes to the point where you realize it's time to get a new one. I gave it three stars because it does the job, but it only lasts a year.
For my Glacier Bay tub faucet, this was required. The front piece differs from the factory cartridge in appearance, but it fits and functions properly; the only concern I have is that there are two locking tabs, one on each side of the cartridge, that don't seat well, preventing the blue front from being held in place by the beige back. When the fixture is screwed on, it presses against the blue portion, so it may not make much of a difference.
