Questions & Answers

Is this the same kitchen faucet as the 12801?

These did not replace the faucet in my bathroom. They might, however, work because they did in my shower faucet.

Is it true that these are genuine Moen cartridges?

There are no double ring designs available from Moen.

Is the plastic valve removal tool included in this?

No - I bought it separately at the same time, and while I could have completed the job without it, I can see how, if the valve was frozen in place, I would have needed the tool to undo it.

Is this compatible with Moen's 4800 27000 64000 74000 84000 series of bathroom faucets?

This cartridge fits Moen faucets from the past. Ceramic discs in a plastic container are currently the standard.

Everything went off without a hitch
5/5

My house was built in 1988, and the full bath and shower that we had both became difficult to turn on or off, with the full bath developing a small drip as a result. These were purchased in pairs, one for each of the two bathrooms, and they worked perfectly. Showers and full baths are now ridiculously simple to turn on and off, adjust, and so on. Remove the retainer clip with a small flathead or a pair of long-nosed pliers after you've removed the knob. Remove the old cartridge with nose pliers and an extraction tool or adjustable pliers, then slap in the new one (which I would recommend smearing with silicon grease). br>br>For those debating whether to get the 1225 or the 1222 - If the knob on your sink/shower/bath pulls out and rotates, it's a 1225 (the 1220 is an older version that can be replaced with the 1225). It's 1222 if the knob on your sink, shower, or bath only rotates.

love it. With proper maintenance, Moen cartridges can last for years. o- o- o- o- o- o- rings. They switched manufacturers a few years ago, and the cartridges have been leaking after a while since then. I couldn't find the right o-ring. This cartridge is a beauty, with rings to make it last. If you need assistance with the installation, go to YouTube. My recommendations are as follows: br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>have a puller handy If there is calcium caked on the opening, clean it out with steel wool. br>Insert a new cartridge and grease or silicone it to make it easier to pull out next time. br>Make sure the line notch on the stem is facing up (hot and cold will be correct)br>Big hint. Make sure your ears are pointing up at a 12 to 6-degree angle. You won't be able to put the retainer ring in if they're in the 9 and 3 positions.

I was unable to complete the installation

I've successfully replaced this cartage with OEM parts in the past. I removed the old one and attempted to replace it with the double-sealed one. NO WAY. I followed the directions to the letter and got it about 3/4 of the way in, but it won't come out! I had to pry and twist for over an hour to get it out, and by the time I was finished, it was completely destroyed. I greased it up and reinstalled it, and it now works fine. I'm going to place an order for one from OME. The rubber pieces on the sides of the valve became stuck and refused to come out. I couldn't get it to work for me.

DO NOT GET THE MOEN IF YOU GET THIS
5/5

Because of the positive reviews, I recently purchased the Moen. Moen is a well-known brand, and it was the original valve in our shower when we first moved in two years ago. I started by replacing the valve with an original Moen part that had Moen markings and was packaged in Moen hard plastic. With the new valve installed, the leak became even worse. I spent several hours cleaning, reinstalling at 188 degrees, then 90 degrees, and finally turning it into place once installed, as well as trying to figure out what else could be causing the leak. After giving up and deciding to return the new Moen as defective, I came across this DuoRing valve that had excellent reviews and stated that it had two more seals than the original (Moen) design. The two seals, in my opinion, make a significant difference. The leak in our shower was completely stopped as a result of this. This is a great alternative to the Moen and is a little less expensive. br>After reading a few online reviews, I believe the Moen product's manufacturing process has changed, or I may have received a lemon. If you're a true believer in the power of prayer, a difficult name - If you prefer the Moen brand, get it on Prime, and while you're at it, get this one on Prime as well. If the Moen fails to function after installation, replace it with a new Duo ring and return the faulty Moen Hassel for a refund.

Before you start, there are a few things to keep in mind
3/5

The cartridge arrived in good condition and appears to be of high quality. Unfortunately, the installation did not go as planned, and I was damaged as a result. After removing the old cartridge (I recommend purchasing a puller), clean the inside of the tube where the cartridge goes with a small wire wheel, or make a tube of sandpaper and run it in and out, then flush it with clean water, and make sure the new cartridge is greased with waterproof grease. The new cartridge should be able to rotate left and right while in place and slide in easily. Something is wrong with the new cartridge if you have to use real force to remove it. In this case, that's what happened to me, but I can't blame the cartridge because I didn't properly prepare the opening. I managed to get it in, and it worked, but it wouldn't completely shut off. When the tub filler was completely turned off, a small but consistent stream of water continued to flow out. So I went to the store and purchased a genuine Moen 1225, as well as the puller and a small tube of grease that was hanging next to the cartridge. When I took it out, I discovered that one of the rubber seals had become damaged. I improved the opening prep and the OEM part slid right in with little effort, so I'm not sure if it was entirely due to my lack of preparation or if this cartridge was slightly too fat. If you don't want or can't get a Moen cartridge, I'd say give it a shot (they supposedly will send you one for free if you wait long enough), do the prep, and it should be fine.

It's a good product, but getting the ollone out is a pain
5/5

Cartridges may need to be replaced after a few years in areas with hard water. It can be time consuming and dangerous to remove the old one. Two of us spent nearly two hours doing (and redoing) steps the first time we did this job. Do not be fooled into thinking that twisting the plastic tool they provide will easily wiggle the old one out. br>br>This time, one person using an Aluids C8056 cartridge puller completed the same task in half an hour. Naturally, carefully watching some Youtube videos was beneficial. Take it all apart, clean it with a toothbrush, and put it back together. Plumber's grease is used to put it all together.

It was not possible to install
3/5

This replacement cartridge for a Moen kitchen faucet was attempted to be installed by a plumber. The cartridge was about two-thirds of the way in when it became stuck. It was difficult to recover, and the extraction process caused damage to it. The installation of a Moen 1225B went smoothly after that. I can't say what about the design of this replacement cartridge caused the issue, and I acknowledge that many users have reported that they were able to install and use it successfully. It didn't work out for me.
