Neither a dust collector nor vacuum exists. For small projects it is a good choice
The reason for not doing so is unclear to me. When I'm in tight spots, I've had good results with this.
It prevents dust from spreading throughout the paper or in the air as the holes allow it to collect. It is not necessary, but it would be nice to have.

It has stopped working correctly since I purchased it in January 2019. Now it is September and I am still having issues. SANDING IT ON THE ITEM YOU ARE TRYING TO sand is so slow it barely has any power when you put it on the item you are trying to sand. IT IS PAST THE RETURN TIMEFRAME, OF COURSE. It is NOT a good idea to grab this item.
With this tool you can see around where you want to sand since it has a higher profile, and your hand won't get in the way. My sander worked fine until this month where I used it to smooth out some spackling compound before painting. Right from the start, it slowed down so much I had to turn it off. Even though it was a big project I was working on, I am still disappointed in its performance, and I will not be buying it.
In less than 3 hours, I have sanded 3 pieces of plywood with this sander, which has already broken.
