Questions & Answers

I'm looking for a punch plate that will fit this sander. The Makita part number 192523- was mentioned by one reviewer. 3. However, I am unable to locate a source. ?

It's simple enough to make your own; I did so for my Ridgid 1/4 sheet and am doing so again for the Makiute 1/2 sheet. A wooden plate with a "framed" corner. I used deck screws that were driven in from the underside and had just enough protrusion on the tips to punch holes. The holes don't have to be as large as they were on the pre-production model. sheets with punches Make use of the previously prepared materials. It came with a punched sheet that served as a template for where the screws should be placed. Cut the screws' underside ends off once the protrusion has been dialed in. So that you don't scratch your work table, sand the underside flat. Set up the uninstaller Place the holey sheet on the sander and then the entire thing on the hole puncher. Turn on the sander for a few seconds after it has settled on the puncher. The holes will become larger and more rounded as a result of this. br>I've read that purchasing a single hole puncher from an office supply store is another option. Use the paper that came with the sander as a template to mark up the new sheet and punch the holes one at a time. Although I have not yet tried this method, the homemade punch plate has proven to be very effective.

Is it necessary to remove the hook and loop pad in order to use regular sandpaper sheets?

You can sand with regular sandpaper if the hook and loop pad is still on. To use your shopvac with regular sandpaper, I would recommend purchasing a punch plate.

Is there any way to get a more durable dust bag than the one shown?

One was created by me. Adapter plate that came with the car; Removed the paper bag and glued the two-layer fabric bag in its place. It is effective for three people. It's been four years.

What extras are included with the sander?

One piece of 120 grit sandpaper is included, as well as one disposable bag for the dust collector.

The dust exhaust pipe with a 7/8" OD will not fit the shop vacuum
3/5

The sander performs admirably and with far less vibration than I had anticipated. It is well-made. Clamps for attaching 1/2 sheet sand paper are well designed. Has sufficient strength. br>br>However, I purchased this sander because I needed good dust collection (I was sanding indoor floors in an occupied living area). The dust collection system included with the sander was insufficient. br>br>AND, the sander's dust exhaust pipe is a strange, small size. It's about 7/8-inch in diameter. inch OD. It will not fit into a standard 3 gallon Shop-Vac container. I've never seen a Vac brand hose or an adapter. Several adapters from previous projects were on hand. None of them came close to matching. I couldn't find anything suitable on the internet or in the hardware store. br>br>The dust collector bag's frame (which came with the sander) could not be modified in any way to connect to a vacuum hose. It's a complete contradiction. br>br>So, what's the deal with Harbor- Freight (and others) might notice that dust collection usually necessitates the use of a vacuum. Makita, on the other hand, appears to be unaware and/or obtuse? Isn't it more likely that they'll sell their dust collection bags? br>br>My profession- Here's what happened (and why I didn't return the sander despite my annoyance): br>I used electrical tape to make a gasket to increase the OD of the Makita dust exhaust pipe. I cut the male end of a hard plastic adapter (approximately 1 3/8" female OD to 1 1/4" male OD) to fit over (and flex at) the 'tape-in'. connection made with a gasket The adapter was then tightened over the dust exhaust pipe with a hose clamp. gasket'. Finally, use more tape to create a second gasket on the male 1 1/4" hose fitting so it fits snugly into the 1 3/8" female end of the adapter. Finally, I was able to put the sander to good use. br>br> And when I connected it to my Shop-Bot, it worked perfectly. Vac.

QUALITY FROM JAPAN
5/5

35 years of experience in cabinetry, millwork, and carpentry. When it comes to woodworking, I can finish anything with paint, lacquer, 2 part, poly/varnish, hand rubbed, and so on. Having the right sander for the job is essential. The Makita BO6030, BO4900V, and 9924DB are among the tools in my arsenal.
makita BO6030, 99% swirl free sander
makita BO6030,
makita BO6030,
makita BO6030, 99% Made in the UK, it is well-balanced, quiet, and of high quality. br>Makita BO4900V, excellent! equal to Porter Cable 505 (USA model). On the top, I like the grip. I use 320 grit for primers, sealers, and in-between coats, and man, is it smooth! JAPANESE MADE! br>I prefer the rear handle to the top handle on the Makita 9924DB. My old 9924db was given to my best friend, so this is my second one. In his cabinet shop, he still uses it. It's been around for more than 20 years. JAPANESE MADE! "MUST HAVES!" are some of the other models to look for. "br>Older models of the Porter Cable 303, 505, and 7336 are only made in the United States, and they are of the highest quality and finish ever! br>METABO SXE450 MADE IN GERMANY or old rigid metabo sanders (the orange sanders in the photo). I'm not talking about the new Hitachi Metabo. This is one of the best dual action sanders I've ever used! br>FESTOOL ETS 125 is a good 5" sander for face frames, stiles, and rails. Festool is something I have a lot of. Meh, bets china crap is fine by today's standards, but it's no substitute for old school tools. br>The bottom line is to BUY QUALITY! Yes, a few of my tools are made in China. In today's world, every company uses parts that are manufactured in other countries. So, if you come across tools made in the United States, Japan, Switzerland, or Germany, buy them all! They'll last a long time and earn you money!.

A single sanding block! I had an old 1/4 sheet Dewalt sander, but the pad was worn out, and it just vibrated so much even before that, that I needed a replacement
5/5

I was so impressed with the Makita 9403 4" x 24" Belt Sander that I decided to look for another one of the same brand. Originally, I was looking for a 1/4 sheet sander, but a more powerful sander that worked the same way sounded more appealing, so the variable speed option appealed to me. It's a useful feature for different types of wood and sandpaper grades. I haven't yet created a template for punching holes in sandpaper to use the dust collector, but I'm confident it will work perfectly. I've never used a sander that runs as smoothly as this one. It's almost as if it's not even running when you hold it in your hand and turn it on at whatever speed you want. It has enough power to finish any sanding job you throw at it quickly. It is well worth the money, and I strongly advise you to purchase it.

Well-built, powerful, and *SMOOTH* running created a tool It's a pleasure to use
4/5

Overall, the performance and build quality of this tool have left me very impressed. br>br>This is a solid, sturdy tool that feels very well balanced in the hands, as one would expect from a brand like this. With rubberized grip areas and reasonably ergonomic controls, there is some nice attention to detail. At full speed, the motor is surprisingly quiet, gets there quickly, and has a low vibration level. br>br>I haven't tried it with the dust bag yet, and I have no plans to. I purchased both this and the 192108-A at the same time. A dust hose, which, while I'm not sure it's the correct, recommended part for this model (you know, some compatibility guidance in the docs would be great, Makita), fits snugly on the sander's exhaust port. I suppose not having to worry about it falling off while I'm working is a plus. The sander is almost dust-free now that it's connected to my shop vacuum. br>br>One complaint that I believe is valid - The punch plate should have come with the product. One of the first power tools I bought was a Makita 1/4-inch drill. Back in the mid-1980s, I had a sheet palm sander. It had a cloth bag and a steel punch plate, and was one of the first dust collectors on the market. Putting them out on a high-traffic area is a good idea. This appears to be a high-quality professional tool. cheap. br>br>Aside from that, I'm glad I bought it, and I can honestly say it's a pleasure to use. It's the little things that count, and with this tool, it's all about the smooth, quiet operation that doesn't tire out my hands and only requires a little more effort than ironing a shirt.
