Questions & Answers

Is it possible to modify existing profiles to create custom profiles with forms?

Any profile can be created, but there is a hefty minimum requirement. You can alter your current pads, but this will likely shorten their lifespan.

What is the quality like?

The quality is outstanding, in my opinion. I use it in a cabinet shop on a regular basis, though not every day. When sanding crown molding profiles, this tool comes in handy.

Is the sander moving in a straight line or in an orbit?

The sander has a linear motion.

To run this tool, how much psi is required?

I believe I am approaching 65 years old.

UPDATE - A replacement has been sent by the seller
3/5

I previously gave the device a one-star rating because it was difficult to get it to work. Before it will oscillate, it appears to need to be shaken so the piston inside is just right; otherwise, it just sits there hissing and no amount of pushing/pulling on the pad will get it to move. I eventually figured out that each time I picked it up to use it, it needed to be shaken a little. br>A few weeks ago, I sent a message to the seller. There has been no reply. Suddenly, I'm told that a replacement will be sent, and that I can simply return the old one in the same box. I'll keep an eye on how the replacement goes and report back. br>br>Must have a physical address - Velcro was a problem for another reviewer. I don't know why - One style is used to attach specially shaped pads to the sander, while the other is used to stick sandpaper to the face of the profile pad. I didn't have any issues with either of them. When it's running, it does a good job of sanding cross-sections. large grain - On the doors and face frames, a belt sander pattern was used. (no trim profiles yet) It appears to be a little faster than random orbit, which I still use for a final sanding before finishing.

The backer pads have a poor hook
3/5

I'm giving this product three stars only because I like the concept, but the hook and loop they use on the backerpads is terrible and does not hold the paper, effectively rendering this sander useless when you have to constantly turn it off and reattach the paper, which is extremely inconvenient. The pads are poorly constructed; aside from the hook, which is nearly smooth, the largest square pad isn't flat; I also wish there was dust extraction capability. That being said, I'm going to see if I can replace the hook on all of the pads and possibly make a block in between the sanders and pads to which I can attach a vacuum, which will necessitate drilling holes in all of the pads. In general, I'm not impressed.

I'm not sure why I didn't get one years ago
5/5

This is an excellent resource. I needed to sand and refinish 39 beaded hardwood cabinet doors. This straight line profile sander was a lifesaver when it came to sanding straight lines. It's a quiet tool. The vibration and noise levels are much lower than with my electric sanders. My only question is why haven't I had one of these for years? I'd probably buy a couple more if there was a way to get the tool without the profile set. Because the velcro pad holding system is so effective, changing the pads can be difficult. It's not a complaint, but I'd prefer to have a variety of tools already installed. This was another one of those fantastic buys.

This is fantastic! This is a fantastic little tool to have if you sand anything with contours! I've only had it for a short time, but I've already put it to good use! I work on boats, and the lines can get pretty messed up

Little Sander is a fantastic character
5/5

One of the best small tools I've bought in a long time; despite its small size and light weight, it's incredibly powerful. Simply go ahead and purchase it.

Excellent sander for contours
5/5

This linear/contour sander is ideal for sanding curved surfaces and chair and bench spindles. The sander is light, ergonomic, and uses very little air, so it deserves kudos to the designer.
