Make sure you get the right sanding sheets when you place your order. It comes highly recommended! B is one of my favorites. D cordless tools, of which I own several (drill, impact drill, weed trimmer) are compatible with B. D's Lithium Ion batteries (20 volts). Having said that, I own several of these batteries and chargers, so I was overjoyed to discover that I could buy a B. D sander that didn't have a battery and was therefore less expensive. br>br>Even with the battery, the sander is fairly light. In fact, the battery helps to balance the tool and makes it very simple to use. It's easy to operate. It includes a "finger attachment" for working on corners, edges, and fine details. It also has a dust-collection bag that can be easily removed and emptied after every 5-minutes. Wood sanding takes ten minutes. (If you're sanding metal, wear a face mask or a respirator. ) ) There are also two 120-volt adapters included with the tool. sandpaper B To begin, use D sanding sheets that are easily attached (hook). to the sander's base (loop style). I'd say the battery life is around 30 minutes. 40 minutes of continuous use, but an hour or more with start/stop techniques. On the top of the handle, there is a convenient start-stop switch. br>br>I started sanding off old, worn paint from our two Adirondack chairs today so I could change their color. It was a simple and straightforward process. The vacuum function performed admirably, leaving only a small amount of dust on the chair's surfaces. I also used it to clean the rust off of an old charcoal/smoker grill that we're converting to a planter. It didn't work as well on flat surfaces as it did on chairs (hello, naval jelly), but it worked better on rounder handles, etc. I love this tool for its cordless operation and maneuverability. ONE WARNING: br>br>WARNING: You'll need 12-volt power to use the vacuum function. sanding pads with holes that fit the sander's intake holes I made the error of not knowing how to use the toll booth. I ordered extra pads along with the sander because of the pad hole configuration. Those had to be returned, and I placed an order for new ones that fit perfectly. The vacuum mechanism will not function properly if you do not follow these instructions. the color black Replacement pads are available from Decker, but they are quite expensive, despite their superior quality. I recommend 12-inch replacement pads. Amazon sells Lot Fancy hole pads. While they don't last as long, they're reasonably priced at around $13/50.
So—- I'm in love with my little sander! I can sand into corners with the pointed tip, and the lightweight design allows me to work on projects without strain. One point of contention: BATTERY is a separate purchase. You must order it (local stores do not have it in stock!). ) so there was a delay, and if you want the vacuum function to work, you'll need to buy their special sand paper to make sure the holes are in the right place (or make your own holes, which is a huge pain in the buttocks). Amazon suggested (and I bought!) sand paper. ) did not fit the holes (Amazon, that was a major blunder).
I had a B+. After my D Mega Mouse sander died, I came across this one that looked very similar. Now I realize the description stated "tool only," which I misinterpreted to mean "no carrying case or sandpaper. " Without the battery, you won't be able to use the tool. It reminds me of years ago when I was looking for a dining room table and she gave me a price that was about $100 higher than what I expected. When I asked the salesperson a question, she replied, "Well, don't you want the legs?" Very let down. I went to the hardware store and bought the same battery-operated sander. Charger for an additional $2.
This was fantastic. Because I already had a battery for another tool, I decided to purchase it. I'm glad I went with a cordless vacuum instead of a corded version. The vacuum works (as long as you use the correct sanding sheets with the correct holes). I'd still sand outside for lower grits, but inside was fine for higher grits; however, the very tip of the sander appears to have some wear, which is unfortunate.
This isn't a Makita or a plug-in sander by any stretch of the imagination. Nonetheless, it performs admirably. It's where I turn when I need to get to hard-to-reach places or finish a project. It's best to use a battery that has a rating of 3 amps or higher. br>br>The first one had issues and eventually broke under heavy loads. In a smaller us capacity, the second one (return) works well. It's well worth the money, and the sandpaper changes are quick.
There is no included battery. br>br>Another $50 for the battery, plus an additional $50 for the charger. br>br>I'll be back because it's too expensive for my small job. I should've figured out why it was so cheap, haha.
This sander is a dream come true for me. It's lightweight and cordless. It's what I use for my woodcrafts, and it's fantastic.
It's a cordless mouse that's also the best palm sander for fine detail work, though it's not as good as orbitals for even sanding. br>I bought it because I already had the cordless drill and saw, and I needed to get into corners and fine areas while working on cabinets with my orbital.
