Questions & Answers

A rectangle the size of a cabinet door could be cut from oak wood panels measuring 1/2 inch. Would this tool be effective?

The oak would need too much time to do such a thing. Hardwoods take a long time to cut with the tool. A jigsaw would be good for you.

When used with floor tiles and grout, can the tool break up and remove them? Do I need a bit? If so, where would I find it?

If you need to break up tile, you need a demolition hammer. It is a precision tool that is designed to cut in places where fine cuts cannot be made. Furthermore, it is an ideal sander for sanding down imperfections in hard-to-reach When I renew grout, I use the saw to saw out the joints between the tiles. When I used a hand saw to do it, I was able to control it better and it was less of a strain. It moves a small amount from side to side when it is attached to this tool. Fast movement and fast cutting are the hallmarks of this movement. You can use it to plunge cut holes in drywall, wood or other similar materials, such as when installing laminate flooring. It can be used to cut door jams when installing laminate flooring, marble bathroom door sills, etc. In stores, you can buy a blade that advertises itself as the best for removing vinyl tiles, but it An ordinary garden spade will do the job better for me. If you look up ceramic tile removal on the internet, you'll be able to learn more about what you need to do. The tool you are looking for is not this one.

Replacement blades are easy to find, but how difficult is it?

The blades for this type of saw should be readily available If you are replacing an old blade, bring it with you so that you can match it As for Porter Cable blades, those do fit, but I'm pretty sure numerous other brands will as well.

Can this be used to trim the plastic floor protector that fits under a desk or chair (the plastic is too wide for ?

You can cut through the floor protector with a semicircle saw blade just as quickly as a warm It is very important to put some scrap material underneath the floor protector when cutting, and also to use a guide when cutting to assure a straight cut.

I was disappointed in this (I expect Porter Cable tools to be Since I am a woodworker by hobby and previously worked as a tool maker for a short time, I have some experience working with tools
3/5

Having owned a multi tool for the first time, I was excited to own this oscillating tool. In my case, I bought it because I am renovating my bathroom and need a little help for several niche situations traditional tools were not suitable for In any case, it is simple. Hopefully I will update after this weekend, but as of now this is proving to be a failure. began by giving it two stars, but as I wrote pros and cons, I realized that it was not capable of performing many of the specialized tasks I purchased the tool for, so I changed it to one star. I thought this tool would work well between 2x4s Even with the metal blade designated as the blade, nails and screws could not be driven. In addition, it immediately dulled the blade, so it had no effect on it. Besides cutting about an inch through 2x4s with PEX water plumbing running through the centers, it was also needed to produce a V cut. As I approached it, I thought it was a perfect approach because I would not lose any distance to the water pipe. But once again, it did not work. There was no problem cutting the first 1/2" of depth, but after that it bogged down to the point where it could not cut any depth. A number of cuts were made, but I couldn't get through. Please keep in mind this is a 2/4 soft wood where I was merely cutting 1" wide. A piece of 1 1/2" PVC that I tried to cut also melted due to the heat. Nevertheless, conventional tools would not have worked or fit in this location as this tool seemed to fit the bill. The answer seemed to be in that. The pros are The fact that there are multiple speeds*- Blades can be changed quickly. Please note It would be nice if you could adjust the depth of the adjustment - I like the case and it seems there are a lot of blades and options. As soon as I opened it, I was very excited. The disadvantages are I failed to cut a small piece of 2x4 from a single cut. In order to go all the way through the 2x4 that is 1 1/2" wide I was cutting a 1" wide slice. The location I went to did not allow me to get through, so I used hand tools per location and standing near the Please note In spite of attempts to cut the nail, it remained in the In order to remove a stud from an existing wall, I needed to cut the nail at the intersection of the two studs. In fact I barely even dented it, so instead of messing with it this way, I cut it out with other tools and ground it down with the Please note It was impossible to cut a drywall screw between the hardibacker and plywood under a tile counter. In order to demonstrate my product, I had to resort to another Please note I couldn't cut the PVC, but it was still pretty. Despite the fact that I had to come back with another tool to clean it up, it worked. Please note In the course of demo, I had to remove cabinets and sinks again due to inadequate cut of 1/2" particle board. It was not possible to remove the cabinet without removing the plumbing connectors so I tried cutting around the plumbing inside/at the back of the cabinet. Little was cut, but it was done slowly and with much effort. It would have taken hours. So I had to grab my grinder and cut it within five So much so that I went back to cut the remaining material between the pipe and the place where I cut with the Still, it would not completely pass through even at a size of about 1" by 1/2". Please note I agree that the tool does get warm under gloves, even with them on. If you are not going to use it for a long time, it should be okay. The higher the speed, the more vibration there is. The sanding tool is fine for small niche needs, but I can't imagine using it for large areas. Please note It would be nice if the tool had some sort of grip at the head. Please note Several of these uses seem to bog down the system to the point where it's no longer useful. This tool oscillates, so you need to apply a little pressure to make sure the blade cuts the wood, but you usually let the blade cut the wood. In principle, there is just a slight difference between too little pressure and no cutting, and too much pressure and extreme sluggishness. You get stuck when you reach a certain depth and either don't get any cuts or it It's sad because I have considered one of these osculating tools for a long time, but could not justify the expense until now, given my renovation plans. As I type, the more it seems likely that I will just return such an email. Despite its good reviews, I can't understand why the movie gets so many. As a power tool operator, I have a lot of experience. Limitations are to be expected, and one must be reasonable, but the product failed in all the tasks for which it was purchased. Although I am certain it will work fine for drywall, I have a number of other tools that can help me out such as a dremel, a router, or a good It's not necessary to have a tool just However, I still need to cut a piece to slide over the tile so I can slide the door trim under it, so we'll see if it In my opinion, I am not doing In an attempt to figure out what has happened, I It gets great reviews, so how does it do that?.

stopped working as soon as I tried to use This was my first purchase in 2013, but I haven't used it much As a result, this tool was essentially brand new when I used it yesterday
3/5

It was useful to use to remove some paint drops from a ladder after I broke it out and sanded it. It was barely possible to get started when the oscillator stopped. I broke down this oscillating tool after finishing the sanding job with a power sander, which took two sizes of Torx drivers and a medium-sized Phillips screwdriver This task requires a phillips screwdriver of the proper size. It turns out that there are two metal tabs near the point where the blade is attached, and one of those had broken off completely, stopping the tool from working. The tool is so powerful and quick I would have taken this tab shear for granted if I hadn't already used it to the hilt We have reached the end of the road for a tired tool. However, it was essentially situated in new territory As far as I am concerned, I was in good health at the time. Even so, going by what one of these costs new, I guess it's only fair to say I The cost of a Black and Decker oscillating tool is even lower than that this Porter-Cable oscillating tool, but there are other differences between the two There was a Campbell tool. My god, what a mess!.

The tool is well made
5/5

This software is amazing and has made my life so much easier. As part of my preparations to install 3/4" oak flooring, I bought this to cut door trim. This one is an excellent choice because it seems to be heavy duty, comes with a good heavy duty case, and comes with various The metal cutting blade finally dulled after I hit a hardened steel screw on the surface. Otherwise, the blade would have stayed sharper. However, having prepared for nails, I used one of the metal and wood cutting blades that have gotten me through the entire project. There has only been one dull blade in my entire life. Wood cutting blades were used to cut off the dozens of plugs I glued inside the holes around the perimeter of the rooms where the boards would have to be screwed into There's still plenty of sharpness left in that blade. It seems to perform well and is running with little vibration. I do not feel fatigued after using it for a long period of time, as the noise level is not bothersome and there is no vibration to cause fatigue. Although I have only used the sander occasionally, it has been a great help in corners and very close to the wall where a larger sander cannot I can tell by the amount of sanding dust it produces that it quickly eats through rough spots and smooths them out. am only wishful that I could find a way to connect a dust collection hose, but I don't think that is possible. With a cord that is 10 feet in length, I almost never have to resort to an extension cord since I can almost always plug it into a wall socket. If reviewers are having problems with saw blades not lasting long, they may want to consider slowing down and not forcing the blade to It's especially important to watch out for nails when sawing into them. In order for this tool to work best, you need to let it do its thing. When cutting material away from the work, push it into it after the blade has been cut. Unless you force it, the blade will overheat and the tool will most likely as well. I like the size of the case and that I have room for the full complement of blades and A good case is a must when I purchase a new tool these days. This is one of the most effective ways to extend the life of a tool and to reduce the time it takes to set up for an operation since all the supplies are on.

There was a lot of noise, it was hard to change tools, and it did not last very There are a lot of accessories included in this kit, which makes it a good buy
3/5

While it may sound like fun, it can get very hot around the working end, and it is easy to burn yourself just by Another way to burn yourself is by changing the tool clamp, which has a strong spring that makes it very difficult to replace accessories. Three years after it had been used by an occasional homeowner for DIY projects, the tool died. No load on the engine caused it to slow down and the smoke to start pouring The first power tool that has ever died on me has been used 30 years ago, I have others that are still working. This was replaced by a Makita TM3010CX1, which is much better. It seems Makita builds its tools better and keeps control of the quality better than the other machine and they are both made in China.
