Added to that, the item is priced at 50% of what I paid original for the tool and I have to pay shipping back plus 25% restocking fee, so I am left with a defective item! The $20 I'm paying for a $100 tool is not worth $40 to me. As an Amazon seller, I would expect to work with sellers who do not charge for returning defective items since that is not the seller's This is the responsibility of the manufacturer or seller!.
It is nearly impossible to get warranty service from DeWalt. DeWalt tools can be serviced in general, and I have several of them. Due to the fact that the store where I bought it only had returns for one year, I had to attempt to get service from DeWalt when my oscillating tool suddenly stopped functioning. That's not good. I waited two hours on hold on the service phone and three attempts failed, including one where I was told 'We are unable' to answer your call. In the two other cases, I used the 'leave a call back number' functionality and did not receive a call back. After that, I tried to chat but was disconnected twice, and after that it sat there just waiting for me. I sent an email but the web page was broken. It says to fill out a form but there is no form to be filled out. I have tried the ServiceNet site and it says the tool is not eligible for To sum up, don't buy unless you are guaranteed a full warranty period by the store you purchase it from.
It was disappointing to see many of the same comments after I received the package. There is only a "tool" listing on the seller's website. That's fine. The battery would prevent it from being considered more than just a club.
