The spindle has 114 threads and a diameter of 8 inches. You won't be able to use your accessories. Adaptors for your 4 way chucks and face plates can be found in any hardware store. Alternatively, a wood thread tap can be used to make a wooden block to fit the spindle. I expected it to be difficult, but the lathe is so wonderful that I'm glad I went ahead and did it. You're going to adore that lathe!
Despite the fact that "free" prime delivery was offered, the freight company would only deliver it to the end of my 300-foot driveway. For an additional $100, I hired a local courier to pick it up from the freight depot and deliver it to the garage.
It spins at a rate of about 25 RPM up to 4000 RPM. Exceptional turning
From the center to the bed, a 20" swing or a 10" swing is possible.

With the exception of the tool rests, I really like this lathe. The rest of the material appears to be very soft and easily marred, necessitating frequent sanding to keep it smooth. The second tool rest for bowls has the same issue as the first, but it's even worse, with pits in it before it's even been used.
I live at the end of a dirt road in the woods. Thanks to Central Freight for keeping us in the loop. I met the driver at a truck stop to pick up the lathe and transport it back to my house on a car hauler. I constructed a ramp and employed a come-as-you-are technique. To get the components onto my Gator's bed and into the shop, I used a winch to pull them in. I could move the lathe bed along the floor with a crow bar, but I couldn't turn it over without bolting the winch to a wall joist and screwing boards at the bed edge to keep it from sliding. Once the bed was turned over, I attached the legs, moved the winch up a bit, and successfully righted the assembly, winching and screwing boards down to the floor to keep it from sliding. To lift the headstock suspended by two ratchet straps, I hung the winch from a chain looped over a ceiling joist. It was anti-climatic to add the banjo and tailstock. The conclusion is dramatic. br>The tailstock quill unit was stuck, so I had to remove the crank wheel and use a big wrench to force it open. It was jammed for some reason, but it worked fine after that. br>The unit comes with an unconnected power cord, and the manual provides no instructions on how to connect it. I found the necessary information for final wiring, which included the addition of a 220 plug, through a web search. I was ecstatic to turn it on and experience the utter silence. br>I couldn't mount and turn wood because I was exhausted. I was exhausted and sore when I went to bed, but I was satisfied. br>br>Additional information: Regarding the quill jamming, see my previous comments. The quill screw was going beyond its threads and jamming because I was using a center with too short a Morse taper for the quill to eject. The wheel hub became jammed after the second time I loosened the set screws. This was caused by the set screws raising the metal. The cast spokes broke when I tried to tap them off with a nylon hammer. Because I couldn't braze the wheel spokes back together, I used my metal lathe to make my own tail wheel out of brass with elegant wooden handles. I can't say I blame the manufacturer, and I'm not going to take away a star for the Mustard Monster. And, by the way, My entire wooden shop floor is gently shaken by the MM's unbalanced wood-shaking action. If you're on concrete, you're probably not going to notice it. br>I forced myself to finish a few small projects before mounting any 20" log sections, and work is far more stable and secure than on my midi, despite the fact that manipulating the tailstock and tool rest is more difficult.
Excellent product. It is well worth the money and does exactly what it claims to do. Don't waste your time and money on a subpar product; these are heavy, and you'll need assistance putting them together. It'll be a piece of cake if you use Easy Tools.
Period. A Delta was worn out, and a midi-length dress was too short for me. lathe. This is a requirement for the pin to have an industrial level machine.
I use it in my woodworking shop because it's powerful and long-lasting. Love it.
POWERMATIC has done it again with an outstanding product. Thank you so much!.
