I believe you only require a 20 amp, 240 volt circuit, but I would recommend a 30 amp circuit.

Someone should compare the size of the chips produced by a jointer with three knives versus the size of the chips produced by a Helical cutterhead. ?

Because the inserts are smaller with the helical cutter head, the chips are smaller. On a three-bladed head, you don't get the long chips.

Note: It was the first time I had used a proper jointer. With 8" of oak, it doesn't bog down. I really like how long the table is. It arrived fully assembled in a single box. If you're in doubt, get a lift truck. It's only been a month since I've been using it, but so far it's been great. If I had to think of something negative to say, I would say that you will need a vacuum system because the chips do not easily fall out of the machine. I'd make another purchase.
