Jet JJ-6HHBT, 6-Inch Helical Head Benchtop Jointer (718600)

My shop's productivity and accuracy have just reached new heights. weight. This can be carried around easily. To transport it, I'll detach the fence. br>Don't make it too loud. The collection of dust is satisfactory. It is strong. br>Casting Calls: br>Ground flat, good finish; any unevenness I can detect is most likely due to a lack of cleaning. br>There is a substantial amount of weight on the fence. The back of the casting is webbed; if it wasn't, it would take two men to move it. br>The fence maintains a sufficient degree of squareness. With a square parallel to the table, I adjusted the stop. Tighten the clamp as you hold the fence against the stop. There's some slack there, so hold it to the stop and tighten it to keep it from moving. br>To my eye, the tables appear to be flat and aligned. In just a few minutes, I was able to run four 3" x 5" x 3' Pecan posts through it. It didn't sluggish down, and I wasn't feeding them too slowly. br>Smooth and almost slick finish. The cutter head is fantastic! There isn't any ripping. (except on one side of the knot, where it was acceptable)br>one of the teeth is leaving a. The cutters appear to be fully seated and do not wiggle on the 0005" line. It's a nice-looking tool. br> br>While the bed could be a little longer, it is adequate. br>The dust bag does obstruct the outfield table a little. When the first cuts were made, the zipper blew open, but it stayed closed after that. br>br>I'll be able to finish my bench!.

The first one arrived damaged, as it appears that all Jet products now come with thin foam inserts, and the infeed table had a dent in it, as if it had been hammered. Except for the infeed/outfeed tables and a few paint chips, the casting is poor, and the mold used was poor. The helical head is a genuine helical that performs admirably. It took a lot of back-and-forth communication between the company where I purchased it and Jet customer service. The replacement unit took two months to arrive. It's possible that you'll get lucky with it during shipping, but don't bank on it. The cast iron table and fence, true helical head, and dust collection make it a good machine overall, but the rest of it isn't so good. This was my first Jet tool, and I imagine they used to be good tools before they moved production to China. Jet has terrible customer service, and this was in the United States. This was not an Amazon purchase. If you have the space in your shop and some extra cash, get a full-sized 8-inch planer and replace the head with an aftermarket helix head, or use a benchtop planer to joint. I'd give it a higher rating, but Jet needs to improve the quality; they shouldn't charge the same prices as when they were made elsewhere; if people continue to accept low quality, they'll keep producing it.
