Questions & Answers

I was wondering if anyone has used a tool box or storage case and would recommend one to store the GD0601 die grinder and components. ?

It contains a bag that measures approximately 9" by 15" and has sufficient space for a grinder, every tool and attachment you may need and a small area for hearing protection and safety goggles. This is convenient for storing all the things you'll need on the job site and arriving with them at your destination.

For metals such as brass, stainless steel, etc., can this be used as a buffer or polisher?

The attachment can be turned up to its rated rpm if you can get it. Great polish will be produced by the grinder

Is it possible for this to take the rust off of a car's underbody?

Yes, you could do that. Mine has served me well as I grind down the synthetic porcelain on insulators I just repaired at an electric power station. Even when using diamond bits, it does not get hot, so you won't have any problems removing rust from the underside of a car.

Selected User Reviews For Makita GD0601 1/4" Die Grinder, with AC/DC Switch

Here are the important things you should Before you buy anything, it's important to know what you're getting, and there have been a number of negative reviews for this and other grinders, as well as for This is a basic electric die grinder featuring a no-load speed of 25,000 rpm
3/5

In case you don't know what that means, it's sort of like a Dremel, only larger, heavier, and It's one speed, and that's fast. Some people think it doesn't have precision, but it's a simple tool, so that means it's as precise as you are able to control and support it safely. Despite being heavier and with more torque (twisting force) than its smaller counterpart, it is more precise with practice. In terms of bits and burrs, few are designed for working with metals of different kinds, but there are many varieties available. thing to remember is that you should only use bits rated for 25,000rpm or higher. When these speeds are reached, some bits will rip or bend. A general rule is that softer materials (wood, soft aluminum, etc. ) will give you more problems if the cutting edges are spaced tightly enough. Burrs can cut hardened steel so well that some types are much more effective than others. Foreign and domestic exchange rates can vary considerably, but there are more affordable ones that are just as good (both). Collets are used to hold bits and burrs. There are different sizes of shanks on which they are mounted. The right collet will allow the tool to use any bit that is capable of handling the speed and that fits this collet. Following is the complete set of Makita collets A model number 763625 is available for purchase The 763626 comes with a 1/2 inch (included) * 1/8" bit (most common Dremel bit size) - Model # 763620 The most common international size is 6mm (model 763627). The 3mm collet (international size) starts at 1/8" high in Amazon, so the negative reviews are mostly the fault of people who ordered Besides the 6mm and 3mm aftermarket collets you can get here or elsewhere, which probably work just fine, but I haven't tried them yet. In case it is the right tool for your needs, this grinder is good. When used with a good carbide burr, mild steel can be cut quickly and easily. A model with variable speed is the way to go. This is not an ideal tool if you want to hold it in the palm of your hand. Buying this tool would be a good decision if it is an appropriate tool for your needs. The advice I can give you is that.

A misleading variable, not one to be used
5/5

The manual describes it as a variable speed die grinder when it is This product states that it comes with a carrying case but it does not. My sense of misdirection is overwhelming!.

Die Grinder with a diameter of one inch
5/5

Die grinder GD0601 at a fair price. It's a single- stepped grinder that uses a blade guard. There appears to be speed as indicated by the technical details. Also, no storage case is included, as it also appears to be One of the best 14" foam lined backpacks I have found The dimensions of this card are 7/8" by 9". Three-quarters of an inch by four inches The grinder comes with a three-dollar metal bin for the bits and accessories that fits the grinder well and also has a small removable metal parts bin for the collet wrenches. Makita is offering a side handle for this grinder From 192985 to a rubber boot off the nose of the tool. The rubber boot can be re-inserted onto the tool if desired once the side handle is removed. When used in combination with wire end brushes and sanding discs, the side handle is the same one that is included with the Makita GD0800C die grinder. I consider it to be an absolute necessity for a straight die grinder. The reason that I had to discover that was because Makita's own Technical Support had no idea that their die grinders could even be used with The grinder is fairly lightweight for the size. It is rated at 3 on the weight scale. This 7-way plug has a 5A rating and an 8-way plug insulation The length of the foot is two feet An electrical power cord with a lock is attached to the power switch This position should be kept in place I find the tool to be quite quiet for a die grinder and it runs very smoothly. This tool can be used with a wide range of bits and attachments, including 3-in-1 multi tools I cut my hair in inches- There are wheel-off wheels, grinding stones, sanding drums, wire brushes, flap wheels, and burr bits as well as 2-in-1 bits. 3 inches and 2 3/8 inches A set of Roloc wheels and a set of sanding discs of 6 inches. just If necessary, I can use it with my Dremel bits if I have 6] for the grinder. The overall experience with this grinder was amazing, especially since the Amazon price was combined with an additional twenty bucks off from Makita, which made it almost impossible to buy somewhere else for the same price.

I am very satisfied
5/5

It has been one time since I've used it, but so far it's been fine. While I was concerned there would be a problem without a variable speed control, I found the tool to be smooth and easy to use no matter how fast it turned. A typical air filter for me is an air filter This was my first time using a battery-powered die grinder, so I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is and how I didn't have to wait for my air compressor to turn back on when I finished As a result, I hope to use this tool for a long time (and for many jobs). It was a pleasure reading your article. Thanks. ***2015 - **2016 **Update on 8/31***
I've used this grinder a number of times and have been very pleased with its performance and functionality. It has still not occurred to me to reach for my air-supply Since purchasing the GD0601, we've been grinding dies with a power die grinder. Moreover, I concerned that the lack of variable speed in the control unit might pose a problem for me, but I don't think I will need to run it slower anytime soon.

It's pretty obvious that I need one of these already, isn't it? It does take wrenches to swap bits, but it's not too big of a As far as I know, I have not run into any of the problems reported by others
5/5

In any case, it would be better to keep it a secret. No need to worry about being too heavy. The biggest issue I have is that I hold it like a pencil or rotary shaft tool most of the time. As this tool does not come with a guard, it can be very dangerous.
