It's almost there! I've used almost all of the attachments, but the oscillating tool will almost certainly destroy the power unit, as other reviewers have stated. br>For heavy work, I bought a corded power unit. The attachments perform admirably in their intended purpose. br>I used all of the saw attachments (including the circular saw's extra purchase) for a laminate flooring remodel, the router attachment for a kitchen counter remodel, and the driver and drill attachment for a variety of other DIY projects, so the sander is the only one I haven't used.
also the craftsman version of this is 100% interchangeable and there are a few more attachment available for that version.
also the craftsman version of this is 100% br> In short, if you buy this kit, either throw away the oscillating attachment or buy a corded power unit, and the Black and Decker standard warranty is pretty useless, they will insist you send the unit (on your dime) to the nearest repair facility for them to determine the problem. br>I wanted to give this thing 5 stars because it was a very useful kit, but the failure of the power unit and the poor B&W quality kept me from doing so. It was downgraded to a three-star warranty by D.
Get it if you're looking for something to do on the weekends. It appears to be an excellent home appliance. br>br> Read through all of the reviews, but keep in mind what you'll be getting. This is ideal for DIY projects and hobbies. The best part is how simple the attachments are to use. Using the accessories is simple and enjoyable thanks to the pistol grip and variable speed trigger. br>br>I would always suggest purchasing extra batteries and other accessories. For larger jobs, I'll purchase the plug-in version (which is very reasonably priced).
I had high hopes for the matrix system, especially with all of the available tool options. Unfortunately, about a year later, I started having periodic trigger issues. It became unresponsive a few days after the trigger problems. I'm fairly handy, so I opened it up (ironically, with a Ryobi drill I've had for over 5 years) and discovered a wire had broken off the solder. It was soldered back together and put back into service, only to fail completely after a few months of heavy use. The circuit board was tested, and the motor had no power. I threw it out because I'm pretty sure I've had cheaper tools that lasted a lot longer. According to customer reviews, it appears that their matrix products have a trigger issue.
Because the parts are interchangeable, a Craftsman Bolt-On drill and accessories, as well as batteries, can be used with a Black and Decker Matrix drill. br>br>The only drawback is that I've discovered it's becoming increasingly difficult to find the Matrix and Bolt-On for sale. Is their production no longer ongoing? If that was the case, was it possible that the system was too good, as it saved the customer money while also likely cannibalizing sales of dedicated (but redundant) power tools? The circular saw attachment, for example, costs only $26 on Amazon and performs as well as a $100 dedicated circular saw. I'm hoping it won't be phased out!.
I love it, especially since it's my birthday. I got this for my birthday in April, and while I haven't used the router or sander attachments yet, I absolutely adore it. It's also worth noting that blades for the oscillating tool are difficult to come by. To solve this problem, I was able to locate an adapter on Amazon, which I hope will be available in the future.
Update: Two of the motors were quickly consumed by fire. This is a fantastic set of power tools. This is a set that I really enjoy. The fact that there is only one battery is my only complaint. I purchased a second drill because it included a second battery and charger. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I've already gone through two motors with this set, which I use for light woodworking. I like the set in general, but the oscillating cutting tool's battery-powered motor isn't up to the job. I burned out the motor on both occasions by using that tool. What I did learn is that there is a corded version of the motor for around $34 that is capable of handling those types of jobs (at least so far). So, unless you get the corded motor with this set, I wouldn't recommend using the oscillating tool. I'm waiting to see if Black & Decker will replace or repair the defective battery-powered motors.
