As a journeyman electrician, I spend a lot of time on ladders. If you accidentally push down on this screwdriver while it is in a hole on the top of a ladder, it will break. Everything comes crashing down, the shaft pierces your hardwood floor like a missle, and then the handle rolls down, causing more damage. And how do you get it into your tool pouch? You push it in and the shaft pops out. It might work if they designed it so that you had to pull it out to get the shaft out. What a gimmick, what a dreadful design. And, if I kept it, the way the bits are stored makes me think I'd break it. Gimmicky.
It's a cool, possibly limited edition Klein. This seemed like a great idea, but to be honest, I'd rather bring a regular Klein stubby. This is a lot thicker than your typical Klein, and it also lacks the classic Klein quality feel. The bits are of excellent quality, but the bit adapter on both models is loose and wiggles, especially on the regular size, making these noisemakers that could pass for maracas. It is, however, functional. I was expecting a lock on the bit storage feature, but it's just pressure-fitted; I'm not sure if it'll ever come loose, but that's a test for the future.
br>br> Why wouldn't a manufacturer just make the handle longer rather than sourcing bits that are 2mm shorter? Unless you want to cut standard bits down to length, you'll have to stick with the 6 bits that came with the tool. br>br>Otherwise, it's a decent tool, but I wouldn't buy it again.
The handle contains a number of bits, but they aren't just any bits. These are also stubby bits. They're about half the size of a regular small bit. Incredibly useful in confined spaces. To change the length of your reach, simply press the adjusting mechanism. The tip magnet is powerful and effectively holds the bits. Handle has a lot of grip. As you'd expect from Klein, the quality is excellent. For my shop, it's a great all-around tool. Ideal for use as a toolbox, tool drawer, pegboard holder above your workbench, or glove box in your truck. Because of its spring mechanism, it might not be the best tool for your Tool Belt pouch. When putting the spring mech in the belt, if you push too hard, the bit may come out when you remove the tool. Working at elevation is similar in that if the spring mech is pushed, the bit may come loose and fall from the height you're working at.
This product's description makes no mention of the fact that it was made in Taiwan. "As an American manufacturer of hand tools for over 160 years, Klein Tools makes premium-quality hand tools," the company says. professional and high-quality tools of the highest quality that deliver performance, durability, and precision "br>br>While it may be a useful tool, I will be returning it. I'd rather have 14 different tools made in the United States than this one.
This Klein stubby has an extendable shaft that is quite nice. 8 in 1. Pulling open the door is simple. Magnetic. The only drawback is that it is a bit large for a stubby.
I've worked in maintenance for over 25 years and this is an excellent screwdriver. I wish I had had one when I was working because the spinning top is almost like having a ratcheting screwdriver. I'm not sure how well the bits will hold up, but they are fairly standard and could be replaced easily. Overall, I'm very impressed and will order the full size version for a little stubby you can really apply a lot of torque.
Everyone uses a stubby, and Klein tools makes excellent products.
