The car I was driving was The small T20 bit sheared off on the 7th one from a set of #10 screws. (See image). A couple of the other bits (namely the long Phillips) have stood up to a little use (but not well) but my confidence in the quality of this product has been seriously undermined. There was an issue with the T20 bit that could have been negatively rated, but the issue is mitigated by an additional T20 bit The other bits will hopefully prove to be more durable than this bit since I was just unlucky.
There is a video on YouTube called Project Farm (http//www. youtube. com) It has a table that compares all the different brands of bits (it's worth checking out). So, I bought the Makita since it was the top of the line. Until I bought these high quality bits, I had no idea how much they would help. Since I usually purchase bits in bulk from HF, I consider them disposables (hence, I buy them in bulk from them), but these have prompted me to think twice It may be time for me to reconsider my position. It has been 2 months since I received the same star bit and Phillips bit, and they still look and work as if they were just installed. Here is what the screw looks like after 1000 If this one ever wears out (if the ones I own ever do), I would not only purchase this one again, but I would even be willing to pay a little bit more for it. You can tell how good they are from that.
While I was doing some research, it was discovered that Makita bits seem to be the most popular among professionals with experience for the durability and grip they provide - I am speaking specifically about XPS recently came out with a set and was hailed by many as being very good. On Youtube, you can see videos that show their incredible fit / grip (like VCG Construction's). I was immediately pleased with my XPS bits. To pull out the bit, flip the set up so that it can be pulled out. There is a label for each bit on the box to make it easier to read. Additionally, there is a variety of bits available to meet the needs of the home gamer, and the magnetic bits are excellent. BTW, if you're looking for a great drill set that has a ton of good reviews (again, based on my research), give Bosch Black Oxide a shot!.
I consider them "disposable. " As a result of reviews I saw on Youtube, I decided to get these and I have to admit they are more worth the money than the cheap ones. A #2 phillips is a perfectly machined bit, so that I don't even need the magnet tip to hang my impact off a screw with parts of it driven in. There is a magnet in the base of the nut drivers, which makes it much easier to start lag screws when you don't have to pick them up over and over again. My only wish would be to have the magnetic attachment work for the smaller bits, but I tend to use the longer ones most of the time.
I just got them. I think you have a very good collection of bits there. There is a set from DeWalt similar to this one, and I must say that these are Far Better just because the holders rotate out so you can pull out the bits with ease, but more importantly, you can reload them! What upsets me most is how difficult it is to put the DeWalt bits back into the Invest in a Power Tool set instead of a DeWalt. Simply because of the case, this set is worth twice what it would otherwise be. I haven't put them through their paces, so I don't know the quality of the bits, but they seem to be okay.
In researching the makita kit, I decided to go with it over the Milwaukee kit. I am very happy with the way the bits have held up so far. The flush mount bit is my favorite because the bit holders are magnetic and have no trouble holding in the bits. There has not been any bends or breaks under what I would consider advanced DIY usage. The tip of a 5lb box of #2 4" external deck screws didn't seem to be worn out after I drove it that many times. A repeat purchase would be appropriate for this kit.
This seems to be a durable device with a nice tight fit on the PH2 bit. As soon as I noticed that I got one bit wrong, I had to return the first set. In place of a 2" PH2, I got a 2" T15. I, however, really wanted a 2" PH2, as I use them frequently. As a result, I returned it and Amazon shipped me a new set within a couple of There is one thing I dislike, and that is that the tabs that flip out the pieces are very fragile. I noticed that the first set had one tab that was about to break. This is the only issue I have so far. I do not think the tabs will hold up in the long run.
Almost all my tools come from Makita, and I love them. I think all the Makita drill bits and the case look strong and Makita products are known for their quality, so I'd say it's a very good buy. The only problem I had was that the drill bits in the bottom right row wouldn't swivel like the others when the case arrived. The incorrect side was only one so it wasn't the end of the world since the entire row would not fall out of the case and I needed the bits right away and didn't want to wait for the return and for it to arrive. Perhaps I should have been more patient, but I'm not that particular about these kinds of things. The only complaint I have ever had with Makita is that I ordered their products too soon, but it won't be the last time I order them.
