Questions & Answers

What makes this different from the incra miter1000/hd miter gauge? I see a $10 difference in the base dollar amount, but not much in the final dollar amount?

There's no comparison, in my opinion. I own a 1000SE and, unfortunately, purchased three, count 'em three, 1000HD models before learning about their serious flaws. The SE model appears to be much more durable and well-made, whereas the HD model's angle arcs are made of extremely soft material, as is the pointer that selects the setting. The tiniest bump of either distorts the pointer and bends the arc notches together, wiping out all accuracy. If I send my broken ones in for repair, I'll request that they be converted to the SE model so that they can continue to serve their purpose. The HD looks great, but for any purpose I might have, the SE is far superior and can withstand the normal bumps and spills that occur in any shop, especially if multiple people use it.

Is it possible to add a wood miter face to the front of the miter rail? It appears to have a slot in it. If there isn't a T slot available, what should you do?

The face is made of MDF and is secured with a couple of t-pins. Allen head screws and slot nuts. I used 1/2" MDF to make duplicates of the original face. There will be no issues.

Will this work with an old Rockwell Delta table made of cast iron?

Yes, it will work; I've used it on an old craftsman cast iron and it's fantastic. br>It's an excellent indicator that you'll enjoy it.

Is it possible to use it on the blade's left and right sides?

Yes, it is effective on both sides of the blade - Depending on the type of cuts made, I've switched several times.

Well-made miter gauge (when adjusting the miter slot, use grease!)
5/5

ORIGINAL RATING OF 4 STARS - BELOW IS AN UPDATE TO THE FIVE STAR RATING: br>I really like the design of this miter gauge; it's well-made and well-engineered, except for one flaw: the miter slot adjustment is completely ineffective; when I tighten the adjustment screws down, they bottom out before the disks even begin to expand, and since the disks sit inboard of the bar at first, they're of no use. I was going to give it three instead of four stars, but after doing the math on how much tolerance that added to the repeatability of cuts, I discovered that it's so minor that it's almost unnoticeable. The saw I'm using is a Skilsaw SPT99- So that's for my saw; I can't speak for other saws, which is why I only gave it four stars. This would be a five-star product if the slot width adjusters worked and the tiny bit of slop in the miter slot was removed. br>br>Now that we've covered why one star was taken away, some of the other features I really like are the positive angle stops that can be used for quick measurements, or you can just tighten the hand screw and set the angle wherever you need it to be. The flip stop is also useful. br>br> It has a rough surface to give it traction from being bumped (since it uses plastic thumbscrews to tighten it in place), but I think that design will work well; the plastic will never seize up in the aluminum, and the plastic gripper material they use seems to get a firm grip on the stop. The only thing I'm curious about is how well that stopper surface will hold up over time; it appears to be made of high-density polymer. br>br>Other than that, I can only say that this appears to be a well-thought-out product that just missed the mark on one feature. UPDATES THAT CAUSED THE REVIEW TO CHANGE: br>br>UPDATES THAT CAUSED THE REVIEW TO CHANGE: br>br>UPDATES THAT CAUSED THE br>After writing the initial review, I contacted the company to see if there was a solution to the issue I had encountered. The problem was with the rigidity of the washers; what appeared to be the screws bottoming out on the threads was actually the washer refusing to expand. I received a response the same day (from someone who had an out of office auto reply set on) explaining what was most likely the solution to the problem, which was correct. A little lithium grease on the threads and the seating face between the expansion washer and the screw head is all that's required. The slop could be easily adjusted as a result of this. br>br>To summarize, I was mistaken when I said this was a four-star product; it is a five-star product, and I have now had the opportunity to experience Incra's customer service, which was also excellent.

I became sluggish and disoriented
3/5

Just take a look at their suggestion to attach a wood block to this product, and you'll see what I mean. The mitre gauge and bar are standard on most table saws. As a result, you're paying for something you already own, which is the most costly part of the mitre tool. br>I was just being lazy and thought I needed something more elaborate. Well, there are so many illogical adjustments, screws, and movements in this that it's ridiculous. If you have some scrap lumber, I've seen a lot of home-built customer mitre schemes on YouTube for free. br>br>If not, go all out and spend $20 on some wood to make one that does everything this claims to do. I get the same amount of wobble as my mitre gauge, which came with the saw, because the expansion screws on the slider bar were already maxed out for tightness. Plus a few hundred dollars I'm embarrassed to write this report because, at 82 years old, I must be losing my mind because I've been using tables saws with a standard mitre gauge with free alterations for 65 years.

Customer service is outstanding! I was very pleased with Incra's customer service, especially since this arrived on a Friday and I was having trouble fitting it into my Dewalt table saw miter slot
5/5

I sent an email to customer service and was pleasantly surprised to receive a response on Saturday. Mark M. gave me some great advice on how to adjust/align the white discs, as well as confirming that I could replace the black discs if I needed to (I wasn't sure if I was supposed to). *I'm attaching a photo he sent of the alignment that allows the white discs to expand the most. br>Anyway, I tried it out for a few simple tasks yesterday and was blown away by how well it worked. I have a small table saw, so I don't need the extension, and I haven't used the stop yet.

Extremely accurate, simple to set up, and simple to operate
5/5

I didn't want to buy this thing for that much money, so believe me when I say I didn't want to. But I'm so happy I did.
- The quality of the work is exceptional. br> It's simple to align and calibrate. br> As a result, you can extend the fence by 4 inches to accommodate longer materialbr>- There's no such thing as "I wish it came with this. " It comes with everything you needbr>I recently purchased a new table saw, and despite the fact that it came equipped with a fairly heavy-duty miter gauge, this thing outperforms it. Do some research and watch some YouTube videos, as I did. It's a good investment.

Squareness does not necessitate the use of any shims
5/5

I bought the 1000SE for use on a new saw after many years of using the now-discontinued Miter 2000. After reading several complaints about the need for shims to square the fence face to the saw, I was prepared to do so when it arrived. What a pleasant surprise! The current design has been updated to provide a simple but reliable method of making such an adjustment without the use of shims. My fence bracket was perfectly square when I received it, and the manual has been updated to state that it was squared up at the factory. This miter gauge has a great design and is well-made. I am very happy. br>br>I have mine mounted on a DeWalt 7491RS miter saw, which has a wider miter slot than most. 750". Mine had a measurement of. Even on that oversized slot, the 770" width of the miter bar and the expansion disks on the miter bar worked wonders to achieve a perfect fit.

Once calibrated, it's a great unit! With over 20 years of woodworking experience, we've had two of these in our shop and they're fantastic! My main points are as follows:
Pros: br>Loss of adjustabilitybr>However, once calibrated, it is extremely accurate
4/5

br>Well-built and tough. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>The tiny adjustment screws in the rail that rides in the table saw track are too small to change or tighten, and the tiny wrench that comes with it to make these adjustments breaks easily due to its small size.
