Questions & Answers

What is the maximum cut width that the GR200 can make, and what is the practical cut width limit - When should you use a saw blade guard and at what width?

I'm guessing you're referring to cutting across the GRR- The blade is ripped apart by a ripper. Blade clearance is not included in any of the following measurements, so your actual ripping widths will be reduced by that amount. The maximum distance between the fence and the inside edge of the GRR- Ripper is a three-dimensional character. 3/8 of an inch Attaching the accessory gripper foot to the fence adds an inch to the total length, bringing the total length to four inches. 3/8. Installing the stabilizing leg instead adds just under 2 inches to the total height, bringing the total height to 5 inches. 5/16. I suppose you could add the flat accessory plate to gain a few inches, but the rig will easily skew against the fence, and there's no reason to pass over the blade at that point. It's simply unnecessarily risky, and the standard GRR- Along with the blade, Ripper should be used as a traditional push block. br>To summarize, you can rip widths ranging from about 1/4 inch (between blade and fence, as shown in their demos, though this gets the blade very close to plastic) to about 3-inch (between blade and fence, as shown in their demos, though this gets the blade very close to plastic). If you're careful, you can get away with 1/4 inch of blade clearance. When the accessories are mounted, the width is reduced to approximately 5-inches. 1/8. The GRR- Ripper is a three-dimensional character. It's just as easy, and probably more stable, to go alongside the blade at 5/8 outside width. The GRR was at its peak during this time. Ripper keeps your knuckles out of harm's way when passing alongside the blade. Mine are approximately 2-inches in length I feel safer feeding with a conventional push block, or even bare hands, because the blade is 3/8 inch above the surface of the stock, so unless I just wildly throw my hand into the blade, I'm safe. br>There's no harm done if you call your clearances too close and cut the plastic, aside from some costly replacement parts. br>As an aside, if you want to play Jack the Ripper, you can let the blade protrude a full inch above your stock before cutting into the top of your GRR-X. Ripper. br>I've said it before, but this is such a great, well-made product that I can't imagine putting my hands in harm's way with unwieldy push sticks and short push blocks. In an act of complete stupidity, I cut my left index finger with a knife, resulting in joint and nerve damage. I had a thousand questions per second about where the saw would throw the wood every time I used traditional long, wobbling push sticks. or using a stick- When something went wrong, I didn't know where my hands would end up in the chaos. With two GRR-equipped vehicles Rippers, I'm just as at ease at the table saw as I am at the kitchen counter. Complete confidence and stability. Purchase two, make good use of them, and keep your hands free to hold your great-grandchild. grandson or granddaughter

Is the advanced version truly superior to the standard version without the stabilizer?

The advanced version can perform a few tasks that the standard version cannot. Is it worth a few dollars to be able to use it in a few more ways? That depends on how much you value those few dollars. On a small table, you'll need two of each to handle longer items, so I purchased one of each. As a result, I was able to divide the savings (or cost) a little more evenly. It wasn't the most intelligent response, but it served me well.

Will this work on a router table to push or catch the end of a piece of wood? Larry?

Sure, but this is a table saw tool, and a router table can use a lot of cheaper push blocks.

Is the DVD included in this?

Yes. The DVD that came with the one I ordered was very helpful.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed
5/5

YAY. I saw this thing on YouTube and, since I'm a car mechanic rather than a woodworker, I decided I LIKE my fingers, and now I'm the proud owner of a fantastic "portable" table saw that gives me the creeps. The fear of using a table saw is gone with this device. This is an excellent tool. BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A TABLE SAW AND WOULD LIKE TO KEEP YOUR FINGERS SAFE. For decades, my wonderful now-deceased neighbor worked as a woodworker. One finger and a portion of a thumb were missing from his hand. Thank you for yours; I'll keep mine.
Edit: Curious, I went back to the negative reviews and read them again. I'm unable to address the parts that are missing - Mine came with everything I needed, as well as a few extra washers. The poor knucklehead who couldn't put it together drew my attention. YES, it's strewn about. Yes, I'm a mechanic, so this took me about 15 slow, appreciative, and careful minutes to put together. I could have done it in five minutes, but if putting this together is too much for you, you shouldn't be working with tools at all.

Some of the most important parts of the system that should be sold with the base unit are not included
3/5

GR- or 100 200 When I received it, I spent some time watching the videos, which were fantastic. I set it up with the stabilizer leg on the left side, making sure the saw blade would go through the "tunnel" and so on. I fired up the table saw and ripped some scrap unfinished cabinet side panels into boards so I could glue them together and make useful boards. As I begin to feed the board through the saw with a new Diablo blade, the wood cuts in about an inch and the GRR-II cuts in about half an inch. RIPPER simply glides over the surface. Yes, I had the one 1/4" leg to the right side against the fence, as well as the large center leg, to provide more rubber contact with the wood. If you purchase either the GR-100 or the GR-200, you will receive the following benefits: The GR-100 or the 100 You could order the GRR-200 instead, which is what I did. The Gravity Heel Kit from RIPPER is a must-have accessory for any RIPPER fan.

AWESOME device, but the bad news is that you'll probably need two of them
5/5

This device may appear to be costly for a "push stick" at $79, but consider your fingers for a moment. Which one has a value of $79 or less? br>br>As a woodworker, I am meticulous. I always wear eye protection, never wear long sleeves, and take great care to set up each cut so that I can complete it safely. Even so, it only takes one slip-up over tens of thousands of cuts to end up with a catastrophic injury that will affect the rest of your life. br>br>In my 30+ years of woodworking, I have only slipped up about three times. The most serious incident resulted in a lightning-quick kickback. The piece was grabbed by the blade, which fired it into my abdomen. The discomfort was severe and came on quickly. I can still recall how terrified I was as I ripped my t-shirt off. To see if I had been eviscerated, I took my shirt out of my jeans. I hadn't been, thankfully. Due to abdominal bruising, I only had to put up with some fairly mild pain for about a week. br>br>For years, that piece of wood served as a reminder on my workbench. It has a carbide tooth embedded in it from the blade. That was the extent of it. It all happened in the blink of an eye. br>br>As a result, I'm always on the lookout for devices that can help me boost my safety margin. That's exactly what the Gripper does, plus a whole lot more. I liked it so much that I bought a second one, which allows me to leapfrog Grippers and rip longer pieces. That's the bad news, because I believe most woodworkers would benefit from having two of these devices. br>br>I can't say enough good things about this product.

What a breath of fresh air
5/5

I had my doubts about the gripping ability of the product when I first saw it because of the saw dust, and I was correct. When you reposition it, it loses its grip. However, if I manually blow the dust off the board before repositioning the Grr-, the problem disappears. It performs admirably as a ripper. I also kept my air compressor blow gun close by in case I needed to get rid of the Grr- Before beginning another run, clean the ripper pads, table saw deck, and wood. br>br>I've used all of the standard push sticks, etc. for decades and still have all of my digits. Making thin cuts, on the other hand, was a balancing act that was never pretty, and I felt like my digits were in danger. It was such a relief to use this product because everything was safer, the cuts were cleaner, and the process was quicker. It's a plus if the product can be reconfigured/adjusted to meet a variety of needs.
