Questions & Answers

Is this a better or more valuable option than the bench dog tools 10-pack? 033 push- Is there a way to make a block pad?

I don't own a Bench Dogs push pad, but I do have two of these Gripper pads and a few "plain" push pads. The GRR-II, in my opinion, is a good way to go. In two ways, Rip Block stands out. The Gripper has four "heel hooks" that hang over the edge of your work piece to give the end stock a stronger push. It can also be used on its edge (at a 90-degree angle) to push stock on a router table or to stabilize wood while refinishing. sawing with a band saw (this is where the hooks come in handy). The Gripper, on the other hand, costs two dollars. So, if the Bench Dog is 1/2 the size of the Bench Dog, the question is: is that the GRR- Rip Blockr outperforms Bench Dog by a factor of two. And I'm pretty sure I'd say no. However, the final decision is, of course, yours. I hope this information was useful.

What is the difference between a regular push block and a limited edition push block that costs $6? Isn't it $50 less?

There are no "Limited Edition" GRRs that I am aware of. Block the rip. There is only one type of push block that we make, and it costs $24 right now. So, if something says limited edition, it could just be one of our vendors creating creative ads for Amazon, but the prices are the same.

What's the difference between a block smarthook pushblock and a block smarthook pushblock that comes in a single pack?

Except for words in advertisements, there are none. MicroJig only produces one PushBlock at a time. br>br>The GRR- br>br>The GRR- br>br>The GRR- The RIPPER line, on the other hand, has a variety of accessories available, including a gravity heel kit that is similar to the PushBlock's SmartHook.

After only two months at home, I'm falling apart
3/5

shop use. They had a nice solid feel in my hand and provided better grip than cheaper pushblocks, but they're falling apart after less than two months of use in my hobby shop; I bought two and they're both losing their rubber pads - The pads are peeling away from the plastic base, and the rubber is showing signs of wear as well. The rubber is deteriorating on its own. I understand that the rubber needs to be soft to provide a good grip, but it should have lasted much longer. br>br>Follow-up-on-up-on-up-on-up-on-up-on-up-on When I contacted Microjig, they assured me that my broken blocks would be replaced. They asked that I send photos of my blocks to them for their purposes, which I did. They didn't respond to my emails. I sent them another email to see if they'd forgotten about me, but they didn't respond. These are gaudy-looking items with no real customer service from the supplier.

Don't be fooled by the glitz and glam
4/5

In short, these are better than the free pushblocks that come with jointers and table saws (we've all seen the plastic ones with foam bottoms that fall apart after a week), but I don't see why they're getting so much attention. Some observations are as follows:
- The knobs that drop down to hold the wood while I push it through the jointer keep popping up, causing me to lose my grip; a simple way to lock them in place would be a game changer. This could also be hazardous.
- The bottom padding appears to be in good condition.
- The puchblock is a good size, and it easily moves 2x4s and x6s of various lengths. br>br>Overall, it's a good product, but the "auto retracting heel technology" is a pain when it retracts halfway through a cut or join. A locking heel is much more appealing to me. Because this is such a major flaw, I'm torn between giving it three or four stars.

I was let down
3/5

As an upgrade to my current set of push blocks, I purchased a pair of these. The tail hooks are important to me because I use a jointer with a shorter bed, so I can better control the tail end of the workpiece before it reaches the bed. The size and weight of them were the first things that struck me when I opened the package. There is a lot of it. It has a solid feel to it. br>br>However, after using them for three days, that is the only positive aspect I've discovered. br>br>The tail hooks don't stay in place on the back of the workpiece, and there's no way to make them do so effectively. br>br>The brand new rubber grips don't do a good job of holding the workpiece across the jointer. I've had them work their way up and down the piece, and I'm putting a lot of pressure on them. If there is a lot of vibration in the workpiece, the tail hooks that aren't in use will occasionally pop completely out on their way across the jointer bed. br>br>For a long time, I've admired the GRR- I've bought RIP products before, but this one isn't up to par. I bought these to have a little more safety at the jointer in my shop, but I'm not as comfortable with them as I was with my old pushblock set. If you're debating whether or not to buy it, don't.

It's better than I had, but it doesn't quite live up to the hype
4/5

These pads have a nice size and feel to them. They're more effective than the other push blocks I've tried. To maintain their grip, the green pads must be cleaned on a regular basis. Three out of eight smart hooks caused brain damage and had to be removed. They're not going to stay where they're supposed to stay. br>br>Aside from the topic: Why is Amazon asking me to give them a "sheerness" rating? Yes, Amazon, these power tool push blocks are delightfully sheer, and we thank you for asking. My wife, on the other hand, will not put them on.

This is fantastic
5/5

What you pay for is exactly what you get. Very well-designed. I purchased these to use with my jointer to run boards through. I have a less expensive set of push blocks, the ubiquitous orange ones, but I've discovered that while they work well on rough wood, they slip badly on smooth wood. When feeding boards through a jointer, this is the last thing you want to happen. These don't slip at all, and the drop-down hooks on the ends make it easy to push the wood. Spend the money and get these; your fingers will thank you.

This is an excellent resource

keep your fingers safe It works great because the tabs can be moved up and down, allowing it to function as two different types of pushers. They also move up and down on their own when feeding stock through your jointer or table saw. I bought it to use on my jointer after trimming my thumbnail on some 1X1 boards, but it turned out to be a lot of fun to use on my table saw as a jointer. It was well worth the time I spent saving my finger tips.

Great feature of the gravity heel/smart hook: Construction of high quality and sturdiness
5/5

Gravity heel/smart hook performs better and serves a greater purpose than I anticipated. When you need to push down on the flat of the board, the fixed heel gets in the way; with this push block, the heel is present when you need to push forward, and it is absent when you need to push down. This is a fantastic feature, and I'm adding it to my list. Other MJ blocks now have gravity accessory heels. MJ creates well-designed, high-quality accessories that are, despite their cost, of the highest possible quality.

These work amazingly well on the jointer and have excellent customer service

Microjig's warranty is also fantastic; I had a problem with the green pad peeling off, and after sending in photos, Microjig sent me a replacement free of charge.
