Selected User Reviews For DEWALT Clamp For Tracksaw (DWS5026)
I don't usually write reviews, but this particular version of this product is a huge letdown. The current (top) and previous (bottom) versions of this clamp are shown in the photo. The Dewalt part number is the same for both. The positive Amazon reviews for this clamp pertain to an older model (not the current one). In comparison to the old clamp, which I used for years and liked, the current clamp's design, quality, and functionality have all been significantly reduced. The plastic clamp head falls off frequently, and it isn't nearly as durable. I'm not sure why Dewalt felt compelled to fix it since it wasn't broken in the first place. They ruined a good product in an attempt to save money.
The item depicted is not the item delivered, a problem that has been reported by a number of other customers. ) Expect a low-quality variant that is technically functional but poorly constructed, making it much more difficult to use (trigger, grip, and bar flex are all unsatisfactory; In comparison to the version shown, even the branding decal is badly applied. This is based on my own personal experience with both versions of the game. br>After a frustratingly unhelpful correspondence with the manufacturer's customer service, they appear to have no idea what they are actually distributing (they only show the superior version on their website, with no mention of the inferior version) and have no interest in resolving the problem. The problem was resolved by Amazon sending a free replacement, leaving me with two copies of the low-quality version.
BAD QUALITY AND VALUE FOR MONEY! br> As previously stated, the clamps you receive are significantly less expensive versions of grip ratchet type plastic handled bar clamps than the ones pictured. One of the boxed pairs had a bowed track insert tang. This renders it useless. One could straighten it, but why should you have to use a pricey new tool to do so? Overall, the finish is rough and comparable to that of a low-cost Harbor Freight. br>These tools should be better than the cheap crap Dewalt is apparently willing to ruin its reputation for in exchange for $32. I'm now glad I went with the Makita track saw instead of the Dewalt DWS520. br>Waiting for the Makita tracks, which have also been plagued by quality control issues. I'm hoping they're on the straight and narrow. br>Amazon has a fantastic delivery service! I placed an order for these clamps a few days ago. Today's deliverybr>Hooray for Prime's return!.
The item pictured is not the same as what was received, but rather a reworked, low-cost version (attached) that isn't nearly as nice or as valuable as the original. I gave them back to you.
I realize that many people may have had a cheaper, better version of these a few months or years ago? All I can say is that I'm getting the "cheap ones," as they call them. And my overall impression of them is that they are fantastic. I have a pair of very expensive Festool clamps that work with the track saw and tables, and they're total garbage. I wish I had known about these before purchasing the Festool ones, even if they are, as others have stated in the review, of lower quality. br>br>These, in my opinion, keep their distance from one another better than the festool ones. They certainly have enough clamping power to keep the track in place. I use them with my track saw 75 and my 1400 roster and they don't move. They keep the track secure in the end, and you shouldn't be cranked down too hard anyway. br>br>I would buy these again in a heartbeat and wish I had purchased them before the Festool ones. br>br>I hope you found this information to be useful.
The new ones I just bought for $39 are the lite duty dewalt (13 inches long, 6. 25 inches wide) with the same model number dws5026. 3 inch opening area) that are similar to the $15 dewalt clamps (except they don't have the flat track saw bar). The cam release latch is located in front of the handles (rather than being a part of the handles) on these clamps. They're not the same caliber clamp as the heavy-duty ones they used to sell (and which are shown in the photo and description). How well do they function? yes. And they're decent clamps for $15. It wasn't the $39 clamps I thought I'd bought. They are given two stars because they are effective.
These clamps are made specifically for TrackSaw tracks, making clamping the track in place much faster and easier. They slid into grooves in the track's bottom and hung below it. This means there will be no clamps protruding above the track to obstruct the saw's movement.
I don't use them very often, but they're essential when cutting non-flat sheet goods. The track can high-rise if the material isn't completely flat. It won't stay in place as well with the foam rubber grip strips on the bottom. The jaw will open to a width of 6 3/8" (16. 25 cm). The bar that slides into the slot that runs along the bottom of saw tracks is 3 15/16" (10cm) long, 7/16" (1. 2cm) wide, and 3 15/16" (10cm) long. 3/16 (5mm) thick and 1cm wide. The rest of the clamp is identical to those found on DeWalt's 6" quick grip clamps. The rubber pad is attached to a removable extension on the clamp's opposing jaw. When using it with a track, the extension provides more space for hands to work and more clearance for working over it. They fit perfectly in the TSTAK case with the track saw. I hope you found this information useful.
