It will, in fact. It's the same set-up as before. I've got it up and running, and I've already used this bit a few times. This should be done in two or three passes. When all is said and done, it removes a significant amount of material. It's a nice little piece that's definitely worth the money.
Selected User Reviews For Freud 2-3/4" (Dia.) Raised Panel Bit with 1/2" Shank (99-513)
Unfortunately, my router table plate is only slightly larger than the more common 3 1/2" panel raisers (and not nearly large enough to feel safe), so I began looking for something slightly smaller when I came across a couple of Freud bits. This one, as well as the Freud tongue and groove bit set, were purchased at the same time and are both fantastic. The ease with which the bits cut through red oak with no (and I mean no) tear out or frayed edges that needed to be sanded down astounded me. It sped through two large panels in just two passes, cutting to the desired depth. My router is a Bosch 1617VSI, which has a 2 1/4-horsepower motor, and I set the speed to 2 for this project. br>br>I switched to a Skil 1/2" roman ogee bit for the top caps of both the headboard and footboard to get a matching profile, and the Freud bits once again impressed me. The Skil made a huge mess of the cuts and had to be run multiple times, each time extending the depth by a fraction of an inch to avoid terrible tear out and burning, but it still required a lot of sanding. br>br>After using this bit, I can confidently state that I am a Freud Quadracut user for life, and that I am more than willing to pay the extra few dollars for these bits, which are well worth it.
Although I only needed it for an hour, the price was reasonable and the quality was excellent.
It does exactly what it says on the tin and gives a nice, even cut. It was well worth the money.
Great bit for cutting through hard stock, it cuts smoothly and easily. It was a great investment. Anyone who is a seriousbr>woodworker, particularly those who make a lot of raised panel doors, should get this book.
great.
When compared to Freud's original raised panel bit, this one is faster and smoother. It saves time by reducing the number of repetitive passes. It's a much slicker cut now. This is a fantastic revamp. I can't seem to get enough of those Italians.
The item performed as expected and cut cleanly with no issues. Wife approves of the panels that I've already made. The bit is something I would recommend.
